When I check PTV clearance I get one extra gasket from the dealer or kragens and swap it side-to-side
Do you have the arp head bolts? When I did it I didn't torque the heads, as the stock bolts are stretch-to-fit....just snugged them
Also, Ive been using a melling ls1 oil pump for 10k miles now....is there a write-up or proven process behind porting the ls6 pump? I don't think I have as much oil pressure with the melling as the stock ls6, but its still more oil pressure than any other engine Ive ever built

Saturday progress: all flycutting done and actually started reassembly!!! Timing cover and UD pulley are on, tomorrow heads go on. Crappy pic but it's from right before flycutting the passenger's side plus you can see the pulley on now. I was using an old 1/2" drive torque wrench to torque down the pulley and it busted at around 175-200 ft-lbs. I thought the head of the crank bolt had snapped off (scared the crap out of me). I've got a 4' long old boiler tube to use for leverage on the wrench so I was worried I put too much torque on it.

If the threads are clean and you used Loctite 242 you have it tight enough. I used a 1/2" drive for installing my pulley more than 5 times on my 98 Camaro and never a problem. Never did get it torqued down to the 220 or 240 recommended torque value.

Almost done...still waiting for the pushrods to get here tomorrow! All that's left is the pushrods, swaybar, and bolting the x-pipe back up to the collectors. Oh and filling the radiator and power steering fluid. The new CAI looks good but I hope it's not too much red under there with my red FRC's.
