Default Another 10 sec, NA six speed

Jim (zzoomo6) finally got his shifter fixed and ran the new motor (LS3 - 416) NA. Weather was 91 degrees, 3000 DA and he clipped a 10.9 @ 128mph.
Notice in the vid he spins thru first and second. He said track prep was terrible. That launch was only a 1.69 sixty foot !

Congratts Jimbo !!!

That Z will see low-low tens in good DA and on a good track where he gets traction. Pete Incaudo did the heads\Fast and cam. Here is a vid of the idle when he came to my house a few months ago. It sounds pretty radical.

Sounds great. Congrats to him.

Not to be a dick or steal his thunder but,... it sounds like his shifting wasnt superduper quick. Maybe coulda got a 130mph out of it,..maybe faster.

Regardless, it does have more in it. Very nice sub 10 second street car.

You are correct, good ear. He called me and said he was going easy on the launch and shifting because he had just got it together and didn't want to break anything. He has an inside vid of him running his previous motor and power shifting all gears so I know he can drive it hard when he is ready. There is no use beating your car for nothing in this heat. I don't even bother to go right now.

Here is his inside vid from last year. The boy can shift !

Jim just installed a Tick Adjustable master a couple days before so the clutch pedal had a lot different feel and release point than he was used to.... Once he adjusts the release point closer to the floor he'll be shifting faster than that 2nd video...

Default Better video's

Thanks for the props everyone!
Here are some better vid clips that Z06phile posted up on Z06Vette:

http://www.z06vette.com/forums/f52/j...9-pass-117074/

These clips are of the 10.98 pass, and Ernie King checked his TAG weather station right after the run and the actual D/A was over 3000'
The ET streets were right at 13psi hot and I still had to pedal it in 1st to get it to hook up. (another reason why I didn't powershift).
Paul is right about the clutch adjustment, I do need to adjust it down a bit, but with the Tick in there at least I can shift it at redline now. Before the Tick install I couldn't shift it into 3rd and 4th at high rpm with out double- clutching it like a damned semi-truck!
Another thing I need to add, the tune needs to be tweaked a bit as I noticed my on-board wide band at 12.4 afr going through the traps. Now with 3500+ miles on the new motor we're going to lean it out to around 12.8 before my next trip to the track. Stay tuned!

Jimbo

Pete spent alot of time porting and flow testing the AFR's, and matched the cam to the flow characteristics of the heads. It's pretty big, but not outrageous. high 240's mid 250's duration mid 600's lift on a 112+2 lobe
(XE-R) lots of overlap (27*) and running 11.8 to 1 scr. I chose a cathedral port set-up because it is proven and there are lots of cam choices for it that really work and I already had the Fast 90 intake to go with it. I think I'm just barely scratching the surface as to the cars potential,,,,,we shall see!
First and foremost it's still a street car and always will be. I take long trips with it pretty often and it still gets 25+ mpg on the freeway.
To say I'm happy with Pete's combo would be an understatement!

I agree. He did the same to my Silverado 402 heads/intake. The motor is an animal on a little street cam 232/601, 113 lsa by his choice. I told him the wife would also drive it on the street. Mild as can be but screams on WOT.

Very nice runs man !!! Maybe I can borrow some ETs for a few passes from someone. My Nittos 1.9xx just isn't going to cut it. BTW I'd love to cut a 1.69 60, nice job considering the conditions. As you said, she's got a lot more left with better air !!!

Thanks for the offer but I've already spent money on my new clutch and the pfadt stuff. A little tapped out. I got a few acquaintences up this way that I will be talking to about making a few passes on their ET's. We were bs'ing about it earlier this year, but could never get to the track at the same time. Again thanks for the offer.

For the record, when the car is back in line I will be hitting the track for the last time. All or nothing, I'm sticking to high speed runs on the eway vs 11 second runs at the track. I really need to concentrate on paying off my house so I can be financially free vs dumping anymore money into my car after this final purchase. After the house is paid off I'll have many options to consider.
