My buddy making the exhaust system,...received my carbon fiber exhaust tips today.....he and my cousin slid them onto the back of his TTG35, and took a couple of pic's to taunt me I guess....bastards.

Happily taking opinions into consideration. Trying to preserve the carbon is key here but,...not expecting miracles. Either way, I expect to be the douchbag at meets from now on polishing his exhaust tips.

Here's some idea's...

My $0.02:

Make the inner pipe significantly larger - almost the same diameter as the carbon fibre one. Then paint it black!

Word. Only reason for center section is to try and prolong the life of the carbon. Direct heat and placement on pipes, may not like it. Everything on the exhaust will be coated black when done, the pipes will also be wrapped. Thanks for the insight guys. These tips or a hair over 4"...I kinda dig the Borla intercooled tip look myself. Thanks for the insight, keep em coming

To get really slick, you could do a black ceramic coat on the inner pipe...

Fo sho.....the exhaust will be coated black, and wrapped in titanium exhaust wrap, up to the tips. Hoping my setup will be done by next weekend.

Thanks for the input and the idea's fella's. Here are a few more idea's..not what it will be but, again, just idea's. never really designed an exhaust tip like this. So, idea's...idea's. Big thanks to my friend Mike who is actually doing the welding/labor on his free time. The pics where it shows the tips on the car,...they will not be anywhere near that far out....so don't look to deepely into this.

Just idea's.

Is that 3" inside diameter?

Also...why cant the mufflers be similar in design, with carbon fiber 'housings'?

Gonna look sick one way or the other. Not like it maters though, someone is going to have to be hauling *** to see them things up close

Lol...I sure as hell hope so but,..it'd be nice after a race(a win for me race of course- ) .....if the person would be like "damn your cars fast......but those TIPS ARE BADASS!!"

Yes, 3" inside diameter, the same size of each pipe exiting each turbo, all the way back. I originally thought the 3" middle, no silver ring, would look the best...

...which was my initial heartfelt want. I just always thought it would be a sick setup. Maybe I should have gotten smaller tubes?...Oh well. I dunno what they would look like on the car(3" with 4" as pictured above actually on car). What I do know is that I pretty much want the tops of the tips, to come out no more then 1/4 inch to a half inch out the back of the car...so if you were standing right up on it, that would be all of the tips, that you'd see. No more, no less.

The mufflers, made out of carbon,...as many times as I looked at motorcycle cans for idea's,...I honestly never thought about it,...I guess mostly cause I am already Leary about the carbon and exhaust heat that is probably pretty hot, since my whole system is wrapped in excessively A LOT of header wrap...the carbon I have is rated to like 300 degrees...or something. Should be enough but,...I dunno.

If you look in this pic....you can see the ACTUAL mufflers in the backround,....the drilled pipe, and the can housing in aluminum right next to it.

Very little restriction...if any,..very little sound absorption..but probably a lot more then what the carbon would handle. The sound would probably escape from the the sides of the carbon fiber mufflers...possibly.
