2000 Brake Failure
My buddy has a 2000 Vette that has had a rough life as far as i can tell. He bought it eariler this year and ive been sorting out the issues. One I can not figure out is if you hit the Brakes Really hard, The brakes will fail. Ive had it happen once to me while driving it, Luckly at only 35 mph. once you let it sit a while the brakes are back to normal. The EBCM has failed, ABS Light and TSC Light are on. I read into the EBCM Failures last night and from what i can gather it should not cause the Brakes to fail. Does anyone have an idea what the problem could be?

The pedal drops to the floor and does not move the calipers at all. I had to Down Shift to slow do and then use his ebrake to come to a dead stop. After it sat it for a while the pedal was back and the brakes worked again.

Brakes will work even in manual mode (meaning no ABS or electronics involved). If the pedal goes to the floor, this tells me it's a hydraulic issue.
Find it before you drive the car again and put yourself and others at danger!

Ive looked it over a few times for my Buddy, No funky pad wear, Smooth Caliper movement, No Leaks, and the fluid level hasn't changed. Thats why I figured id ask on here. Normally a Hydraulic Failure wouldn't correct its self by sitting. Its not a booster failure because the Pedal should get harder but still have some braking power. I Don't want to just throw a master cylinder on it and have that not fix it.

I had a simliair issue once - well decreased performance anyway, but not the total lack of braking - and it ended up being a cracked pad. If you are not losing fluid, I suggest bleeding the system, looking over everthing once more (including master cylinder) and if it stays the same - get it towed to a professional shop. This is a safety issue & should not be neglected!
