Default The Wave

Well I have noticed something in the past couple of days. Being that the weather was so nice here, I was spending alot of time in the drop top vette. There are a ton of vettes in this area, and I usually wave at them (you know, owner to owner type of thing). But I find that usually the C4's are the only ones that wave back. Like none of the C5 owners know about the wave. Do you guys wave to other vettes? Because I do feel like a complete idiot when I wave and they do nothing back.

I wave nearly everytime. Used to get many waves in return from all generations when i lived in Houston. Down here in South Florida now, i dont think i can recall the last time someone waved back.

50 50 out here in Vegas, most seem to snobbish to even look at another vette, like theres is better or something. When I see someone in a vette look, I wave or they wave at me first, then it is cool. Then I see other vettes where the driver won't look at you for some reason.

Im 21, and when I drive my dads vette I wave. Funny how some people half the age of the typical vette owner know about the wave, yet those older folks either dont care, or dont know about it.

The wave is a tradition damnit, Keep it alive! Here in Eastern NC, I've found C3 and C4 owners to be the most compliant. Very few C1 owners will, hardly see any C2s, and C5 owners unless they're from the Corvette Club(s) dont wave. Its ok tho, to me its either a high and mighty attitude, or an I dont give a sh-t attitude. (or in 98Ultra's case, they just might not see him lol)

Either way, keep the wave alive!

maybe dealerships that sell vettes should be required to inform the new buyers about the wave...that would be a good plan.

HAHAHA that is pretty good... I am 22, but I had my first C5 when I was 20.. I knew back then to wave. I always wave, but there are many times when other corvette owners won't wave... Bikes are the same way..... You wave at other bikes... Me being on a sportbike, always gets waves from other sportbike riders, and about 80% of the cruisers wave back.. It is kind of cool that it became a tradition

Thats funny about the sportbike thing. The first day I took my bike out all of these other bikers I saw were doing the "down hand' wave thing. I had no idea what the hell they were doing, but I caught on and now wave every time. It's the same with jeeps "the jeep wave", but this is the first I've heard about the 'Vette wave.

The wave is alive and well in Texas.

It might be because our mamas taught us that when someone waves, you wave back. You Yankees might wanna try it sometime

cept for a couple who learn the hard way.

"WHAT?! that was without NAWZ, brah?"
"WTF, ITS AN AUTOMATIC?!!!"

and the c5 guys are way too snobby over here in L.A.
they dont even know anything about their cars, either.

Yes the C5 wave is here. I wave every time I see a vette new or old. I let my girlfriend take my car out once, and I told her "Now remember to wave at every vette you see."

I'm amazed at how many will not return a wave. I still wave and smile. Hell, I'll wave back at anyone, regardless of what they're driving. I always see more Vettes when I'm driving the beater anyway. If they look, I wave.

A lot of the NEW Vettes are driven by the gray haired folks that could only have a Vette after the kids left home, and now have the $$$ and time for a Vette. Some of them are clueless about the wave. Just educate them when you see them - WAVE - they'll catch on.

When I first got the 50th, I had a lot of folks just stare at me. I think they were just staring at the paint and never saw me waving.
