Default What's it worth? C5 with 6.0 swap

I've been in the CTS-V section for awhile, but haven't been over here much.

Been thinking of picking up a C5 for awhile. Found one on my price range, but have no idea how to value swaps.

It's a 98, 74k on the body, 2k on a 6.0 iron block. Small 224r cam, ported 853's. And a few small things. Intake, exhaust, wheels.

Any advice would be much appreciated!

The value of a car like that is purely subjective. What's it worth to you? Do the mods that are included with it appeal to you?

Me personally I'd value a C5 with an iron 6.0 a little less than if it were unmodified. This is due to the extra 75-100 lbs on the nose of the car upsetting the C5s near ideal weight distribution. If it had an aluminum 6.0, I'd value that a few grand higher than if it were unmodified as there are no cons to an LS2 swap in regards to the original engine. Even better if it came with the supporting mods such as headers, exhaust, a shifter and nice clutch, etc.

That's just my opinion, to many Corvette buyers any modifications whatsoever detract from the value.

Awesome, thanks for the advice. That at least gives me a starting point. Any chance I could pull a rough ball park figure of what it's worth to you guys?

6.0l Iron block engine (less than 2k miles on it)
Ported 853 castings
Comp 224r cam
Fast 90 w/ TPIS 90mm TB
1 3/4 long tubes with x-pipe
B&B Exhaust
Underdrive Pulley
Walbro Fuel Pump w/ new Sending unit
Volant Cold Air
Aluminum Radiator
MSD Wires
LS6 PCV conversion
Polished stainless panels underhood
Sparco Red Coolant Hoses

Lowered on Aftermarket Bolts
C6 Z06 Wheels (18x9.5) front (19x11) rear
Bilstein Shocks

Transmission completely rebuilt with upgraded internals
B&M Short throw with Custom shifter ball
Shift light mounted on A-pillar
DTE Transmission Brace and upgraded rear half shafts
DTE upgraded center section with 4.10 gears
Z06 torque tube
McCleod Adjustable Master Cylinder with remote bleeder
Spec 3+ Clutch w/ Upgraded Flywheel
Cross Drilled/ Slotted Rotors with Hawk Pads

That's a copy and past. Yeah I don't suppose he's too far off then. Body seems clean, haven't seen any interior yet. I guess the iron block would be good for a fat H/C set up or FI.. Haha

Sounds great..but iron block sucks, unless going turbo, nitrous or big stroker. If its really clean, it does have a big list of goodies.

Cam is too small IMO, unless youre really looking for that DD with perfect drivability. My 6.0 has a 230-234 and I would not go any smaller.

Totally agree. No idea why whoever went to the trouble and cost to swap it and put that cam and ported 853's.

It will be a DD, so I don't really wanna mess with FI. Maybe I could just do the fat H/C set up and a 150 shot for the track? Think it'd be worth it then? Does shooting him like a 15k offer sound reasonable?

I have found some 99+ C5s with <100k miles for <$13k, so I would say $15k for an iron block swapped 98 is reasonable. At least the car is "modded", but dang, not very good choice in mods

Good luck! Hopefully it is clean and you find what you want

Yeah who knows why the guy put those heads and that cam in. What happened to the original motor?

I bet something happened to the original motor and this was a budget repair. I wouldnt doubt if the original motor had that cam in it before. I would kind of worried about the mods since it seems like a budget build to me.

I am not against 6.0 iron blocks if done right. I have a iron 408 in my car but that cost a little more and the owner of that car didn't either think it was worth the money or didnt have the money.
