Used c6 prices with the c7 unveil
When do you guys think c6 prices will start going down now that ghe c7 has been unveilled? I have been wanting a c6z for awhile now. I know it will be awhile before we see the c7 on lots. When it does hit them do you think we will see the prices of the z's drop or will it be awhile?

Not until MSRP is released for the new c7 will you really be able to gauge it c6z values. Especially if the c7 ends up in the 60k's with a few options. I think if that happens and c7's end up selling for sticker plus you won't see c6z's depreciate that much for a few yrs because 1) the c6z will be more powerful and faster than a c7 2) it will still be sought for the 427 3) it will be lighter and 4) a lot of guys with c6z's will be waiting for the stingray's big brother to come out before they unload their c6z's. I think regular c6's will take a small hit, but not huge they're still great cars, reliable, just a little dated now.

This is what I am counting on as well, like to see c5 drop even further and c6s get down as well. Looking to pick up one of the two in the 1-2 year time frame, I cant see spending more then 20k for a car ever.
Id imagine you wont see much of a difference until that time frame anyway. Markup on c7 will be crazy, some guys will want to wait and see how performance pans out, see if they have any issues first model year, others will take awhile to come around to the new style, and finally others will wait for a big brother.

I read somewhere that it is suppose to be 3,000 lbs or less. With all the weight saving steps they took I believe they will meet that weight. I did look at a 2012 grand sport with 1300 miles on it. They wanted $52, something for it. It had turbo edition badges on it along with the window sticker. You guys ever heard of that? I think it was just some parts store badge crap since I cant find any info online about it.

Probably not for awhile. The first batch that hits the showrooms will most likely be selling above sticker just like the C6 did.
And there is no "turbo edition" Grand Sport.

The C7 has an aluminum frame built in-house at GM (not by Dana) that is supposedly 99 pounds lighter than the steel frame in the C6. But it's not as light as what's in the C6 Z06 and ZR1 (136 lbs lighter than the steel frame: http://www.caranddriver.com/comparis...mparison-tests). In fact, the base C7 will be heavier than the base C6 according to GM's engineers because of all the other stuff they added. This is why I don't see the Z06 or ZR1 prices dropping much because they will remain the fastest Corvettes in GM's lineup until they introduce the C7 Z06 and/or ZR1. GM said the C7 when it hits the showroom will be slightly faster than the Grand Sport but said nothing about Z06 or ZR1.
Thus, I will happily hold on to my C6Z for a long while after the C7 hits the showrooms.

C4 LT4/GS = 330hp
C5 = 350hp
C6 LS2 =400hp
C4 ZR1 = 405hp
C5 Z06 =405 hp
C6 LS3 =426hp
C7 =470-480ish hp (realistically)
C6 Z06 =505hp
Take a look at any 2 of the models that are next to each other and think about how close in most performance aspects they are.

ZR1's, Z06's, rag top 427's all are still desired C6 Corvettes so even with the C7 debut I don't see prices falling anytime soon. I bet prices won't drop significantly until Chevy up the ante with a more powerful C7 like a Z06 over the based C7.
I love the new look of the Vette. It's new interior appointments are finally worthy of european status.

The C7 Z06 is still a minimum of a year out and with the new computer software and direct injection it will take a few years for tuners and mods to make these cars mod friendly.
