About 50hp, 200 lbs, and some badging.....at least that's the difference in my car and a Z06.

Test drive both, you will see/feel the difference.

the differences are too many to list them, but just remember that the z06 is at least one full second faster than a regular c5 and it traps about 6-7 mph higher than a m6 c5

Specially lightened components[ windshield, side windows are thinner] [titanium exhaust ]take about 100 lbs off the car.HD clutch and transmission[different gear ratios] in the tranny, only comes with 6 speed,1" wider wheels and wider, lighter non run-flat tires. Higher lift longer duration cam, lighter valves although they are .40 longer to keep valvetrain geometry in line due to the use of a smaller base circle cam.Larger sway bars with metal rather than plastic end links.Only come in FRC body style and limited colors...

John, you have a FE4 suspension on your car and Z06 transmission gearing? Also the LS6 has a different block and heads, cam, valves, springs, etc. I think you may be missing a few things.

PS - bring your car over so I can paint your emblem. I can give you a promo deal.

True but the Z51 isn't very far off at all. I drive a car, not numbers...and i say if you drove my car hard and a Z hard, the only difference is a small amount of SOTP difference and $10000 less But it's cool, cuz i plan on getting a low mileage '03 or '04 Z when my '99 woman's car wears out.

I'll give you a holla when i'm in Houston for a few days. I should be home the second weekend in April.

My coupe had the Z51 suspension and unless you push it real hard in turns there isn't much difference on the street other than the FE4 suspension rides a lot rougher and bounces you around...LOL! The lower tranny gears makes a big difference though, I enjoy that.
Your car looks sweet as usual, I don't remember you having a car that didn't. Although the v6 from many years ago left a little to be desired. Remember those days. Anyway, the Z06 can be had at a reasonable price. I bought mine last year at COH with 1000 miles on it and paid $42! It was still new and I get the 3 year 36k warranty and got new car rates on financing since it was low mileage and the same year. So I couldn't turn that deal down.
Let me know in advance before you come out, I live in Katy. That way I can be sure to be available.

Oh man...i was hoping no one EVER remembered the V6...although it was just the wheels that sucked. Cool thing was, it was the first black 98 of all the Firebirds delievered to Houston. Fell in love with em! Although at the same time i was in love with the new Vettes and finally...

After i get done with school either in the fall or spring i'll be lookin at an '03 or 04 Millennium Yellow. And i'll get in contact with you before i come home
