Default LG Headers. Cats or Not with Stock Ti system?

I'm looking to get a set of the famous LG headers for an 03 Z06. I'm planning on maintaining the stock titanium catback, but I'm not sure if I should run cats or not. I know on the Camaro's, ORYs sound like ***, but what about the duals on the Z06? Any advice or opinoin is greatly appreciated.

The motor will remain internally stock.

My good friend Wayne has the same exact car and same exact set up you're speaking of. It sounds almost stock, little bit louder but has the power! Run cats. The cats they run only dyno maybe 2 - 3 hp less than off road. Random tech knows their stuff!

Does it get raspy without the cats? I loved the sound of my Camaro with cats and Corsa, but didn't live friend's car's W/O them. Is it the same for the Z06?

Thanks.

I am running the LGs with no cats - sounds great with my B&B bullets.

I've heard there are some longevity issues with the RT cats.

Are those B&Bs loud with no cats and LTs? Any resonance? How's the idle and crusing around? Thanks.

My buddy had an RT cat on his 200SX. The element inside ended up breaking apart and rattling around. Called 'em up, even being 2 years old and they replaced it w/ my buddy only having to pay S&H. RT cats are pretty damn good, and IMO it gives you the extra satisfaction in case your state currently doesnt have emissions and switches to it, that you arent gonna have to hack up your exhaust system.

Yeah, I'd like to run cats do to the cleanliness of the sounds they emit, but the guys are saying that you don't need cats on the vettes. I'm just not sure how reliable the O2 simms are.

Im running no cats and there is no droning or annoying loudness. Also passed emmissions (computers rock!) Not sure how much FLP headers would differ from LGs in regards to sound, probably not much.

I do have the cats but I dont want to put them on and have them fall apart in half a year anyways.

Great, no cats it is. So is it true? Are LGs better than Kooks? I have Kooks on the Camaro and love them, but I hear the LGs are the way to go. Any feedback or is the difference marginal?

I had no cats on my old camaro.

I will have high flow cats on my z06. It was fine for the camaro, but a stinky z06 is just not for me and the gains will be very little.

I agree, get the Random Tech Metal Matrix High Flow Cats, and you will only lose 4-10rwhp/rwtq. I know of two others that dyno'd with & w/o the RT Cats on the LG Pro LT system; one lost 4rwhp/rwtq & the other lost 8rwhp/rwtq.

I went about a 2 years w/o Cats. The smell never really bothered me, but always feared the yearly State Emission Inspection because no matter how good the tuning a visual with the aid of a lift would be a no go. So, Tuesday I was at the LGM shop and they installed the RT Cats, LSX FAST 90mm Intake, and G2 NW 90mm TB. The first thing my wife said on the drive back home was, "that awful smell is gone & your car is not as loud as it was." BTW, my ride still has a significant deep roar.

BTW2, this Thread is the first I've ever read of the RT Cats going bad d/t poor quality I'd need first hand commentary to believe it. ...just my .02

Are you still running the stock Ti catback, or what are you using?

I never had the Ti Catback. Click on Mods link in my SIG. That will answer your question, and more.

With the Bullets it is loud - but only under hard acceleration....without cats and a stock cam the smell won't be too bad.

Not too much resonance either. When going through a underpass the car screams!

I rolled around with no cats, true duals / dumps, and a trex. The smell wasnt that bad without the trex. Once the trex was installed it was horriable without a tune. The tune helped but I would see people choking behind me

Just not what I want on my vette.
