Default What would i have to do?

What head and cam package would i have to put on a Ls1 to get it to produce 450 to the wheels.I plan to do this and spray a 150 shot. Will it hold it?

M6? Definitely not. Say buh bye to your clutch and rear end. A4? Maybe.

You'll probably need headers, exhaust, intake, pulley and a few other modifications to get 450 at the wheels with just heads and cam unless you have a C6.

What do you drive?

I know the clutch will go bye bye but the rear end should hold. Im looking to do this on a Ls1 C5. There was some guy on here that with just Lt headers and a cam got 440 to the wheels i wonder who that was.

I've heard of many a busted rear end with less power and sticky tires, so good luck.

As for 440 with just headers and a cam, that was probably a Z06.

Its doable to get those kind of numbers with a H/C setup. But you will haev to dip into some high dollar heads and a pretty big cam to pull it off. Gonna need a clutch, headers, awesome tune, and like he said a few things. At this point if you are spending this much money might as well change the pistons and rods to hold the shot as well. I think IN DEBT jsut did his setup on his Z06 and came close to that numebr with LG Headers and a LG Cam (cannot remember which one) with a few other things. That was on stock LS6 heads if I am not mistaken.

SO yea it can be done but its not gonna be cheap

I like the AFR 205's, G5X3, & LG Longtube Headers.
Or AFR 205's, FMS F14, & LG Longtube Headers.
You also need a host of other parts to make it work.

Thanks. I have heard of some good things about FMS Cams. I will not mind going for a huge cam to get to these numbers. The heads will not be a problem. Really all i am worried about is those damn expensive *** headers. I wish they would be just as much as F-body headers. I like the idea of using stage three heads, a 242/250 Cam and some LT's. Hopefully having the M6 it will not eat up my driveability in 6th gear.

One thing to think about is how many miles are on the motor ? Add HP with H/C and then sticky tires and then nos something will break. I did it and one pass of Nos after H/C and I spun a bearing on a motor with 15,000 miles. Some people never have a problem but be ready. I never have had a rear end break though.

I got 451rwhp with a cam only (plus all the normal bolt-ons).

That's on a Z06 (LS6 heads) and a TRex cam.

Without drag radials I don't have to worry about breaking the rear end, it spins first.

It would probly be cheaper running a Procharger than doing H/C/headers and bolt-ons.plus you'll get more hp.

I went with the AFR 205s, Comp 224 581 114 (great street cam), LG's Lts and tuning finally made 430RWHP. Just bought the T body and 90mm Intake......we'll see what happens.

Slowhawk: I thought the same, but decided the H/C were more practical for building in stages ($$$) and better street manners (blower cars can be hell on radials) just my .02
8 grand for a blower (install and tuning) or 4500 (out the door) for H/C
