Default New Vette Owner

I just got a used Z06 Millennium Yellow Vette,It has 6K Miles..This is all new to me,I've owned many F-Bodies Trying to go thru the owners manual and other sites searching for all the info I can.I'm dynoing the car the 13TH at Speed Inc.It has no mods.I'm kinda confused on the cold air kits for these vettes.I like the one MTI offers. Is this a good start?

Thanks guys

I've been looking at this too. You might want to look at the brethless performance site as well.

www.breathlessperformance.com

I've joined the C5 registry club www.c5registry.com and with this membership you can get a 10% discount from a lot of venders.
You might want to check this out as well.

Congrats on the purchase, you are going to love modding and driving this car.

Congrats on the new toy Brad! '01 or '02 model?

A friend of mine just picked up a used '02 Millenium Yellow Z06 (900 miles!) for $44K, that is a hell of a deal. Where are you at Steve?

Brad ,
I think you'll be very happy with your latest purchase. I've had this car for 4 months and it still gets better every time I drive it. After you decide on an intake system you should check into a Hurst shifter. It makes a fun car even more enjoyable.

Brad, who bought the 30th? I figured you get into the 10s with that car before selling it.

How many yellow cars do you need? It's not at all like an F-body , is it? I would think that a cold air kit would be more beneficial on an '01 than on an '02. There are a lot of small differences between the '02 and '01's and I'm not as familiar with the '01's. You should check out [www.z06vette.com] . There is some good information on that board , but a lot of the guys aren't real gear-heads.

Congrats on the new vette! Before you go spending hundreds on a cold air like myself and others have, I recommend this:
Get this K&N Conical filter and cut a hole underneath it in the shroudn. It's the RE 2090 (I think). It is the 9" long filter
with a 3-1/2" opening wich fits pre-2001 models. A guy on the CF did this and got gains that are comparable and if not better than some other cold air versions for $40!!!
If I had to do over again I would do this.
I'll get a pic for you so you can see what it looks like.

Also, as far as exhausts go, you will hardly witness any gains with the cat back systems, 5-7HP usually is the max. Since you're an F-body guy, you know about the flowtech cutouts. You could get two and put them behind the cats in the int. pipe and put some nice tips on and save some good money while you're at it!

Congrats Brad.

Headers and intake should make your car tons faster. Enjoy the Z06.

Intake depends on what you are looking for. They all pretty much have the same gains. Some look much better than others but cost more.

SLP just came out with long tubes that will work awesome. TPIS LT's are pretty decent also.
