Re: 2003 z06
I've heard rumors of a 5-speed auto (5L60E or 5L80E?), not sure for which year model though, but I would think it would be rated high enough to handle the 350-400 ft-lbs. If there's a 427 then its probably gonna be T56 only. <img src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" border="0">

There is the specs on the 5L40E
Doesnt take much torque but I bet they'll come out with a beefier transmission for the Cadillac Luxury Roadster, which is supposed to have a 5 speed auto.

The "rumor" mill seems to indicate the 5 speed auto will not come in the C5, but will be part of the C6 when it is released. I am also sure GM is going to get the power handling of the 5 speed tranny up as well, as the new sport Caddy is supposed to use it.

Having had the opportunity to drive a Trailblazer w/ the Vortec 4200 on two occasions (my 2000 Tahoe likes visiting the dealer several times a year for various problems), I can certainly see where the 5th ratio of the 5L60E will yield a significant performance increase. The Vortec 4200 comes on cam at 3800 RPM and pulls all the way to 6000.
The 5 speed gearboxes will provide benefits across the board.
