Default 2003 z06

From what I can tell you is that for 2003 the standard corvette will be pushed to 365 hp, and the ZO6 will be pumped up to 425 hp due to computer tweaking and a head change. As for the 450 hp your looking at the 2005 model that will be released in the summer of 2004. the standard vettes will receive the Ls6 at 405 hp and look for the 450 hp to be comming from the ZO6.
If you waiting for 2003 for the new one go take a drive in the 2002 you will be plenty happy, its an animal!

It sounds like the General is going Viper hunting. My SS will be plenty for me for now. I'm going to hold out for the C6!

My Formula will be paid off in just over a year. So, I'll just hold on to this "beater" until the C6 comes out

Why not? I have two sources actually, both of my cousins. One works at the plant that makes the LS1/LS6 block and heads, and the other is the engine test engineer at the plant that assembles the LS1/LS6. Pretty damn good sources if you ask me.

silly like that for the 500hp c6.
But, I could be wrong. That's just a rumor I heard.

I would be willing to guess that GM will drop the Z06 for a year or two after the introduction of the C6 model. The standard Coupe will come first, followed shortly by the Convertible. They we will see a C6 version Z06 in the 2nd or 3rd year of C6 production. This gives GM bragging rights on introducing new products every year, as well as following the C5 introduction(as we known the C5 chassis was designed as a convertible orginally, but the coupe came first).

Here's the dirt from the internal GM dealer memo sent out 1/30/02

2003 50th Anniversary Edition Corvette:
1. Special Color CARMINE GOLD (white w/gold metalflake)
More 2003 Corvette news... NEW COLOR for 2003 Red Mist Metallic similar to the 99 Cadillac
03 Coupe + Conv. - 365 Hp 365 Ft Lb. Torque. extra HP + Torque achieved by Cam used in '02 ZO6, removal of MAF screen, like '02 ZO6, deletion of pre cats (pups), and new air intake like '02 ZO6.
** 03 ZO6 - 425 HP 425 Ft. Lb. Torque. Achieved by updated-revised heads, computer tweaks, and possible new Throttle Body.
** 03 LS88 - 520 HP 520 Ft. Lb. Torque. Engine is a 427 Small block. It will be produced by LPE. The engine will be shipped to the plant and installed at the plant. The car is to be a direct threat to the 03 Dodge Viper. Look for this engine to carry over for the C6.
** C6- Will be a 2005, released in early 2004, will have exposed headlights, was held back because of concerns by Bob Lutz, new GM head of design. Look to see 2 engine options. A 6.0 liter and a high performance 7.0 liter (427 small block) Base engine will be 400 Hp and 405 ft. lb. Torque. Exact same motor as '03.
Added 1-1-02: Also OnStar, Navigational System option, HID headlight option, and better sound sytem.

Not only that, but the A4 tranny is only rated to 350ft/lbs currently. GM would be opening themselves up for tranny problems should they rate the engine more than the tranny is rated for. I would expect to see some tranny improvements before we see the 365ft/lb rating(as is currently done by the PCM in the A4 cars, from what I hear, reducing them to 350ft/lbs from the 375 rating of the M6 cars).
