If I may answer for him, it's an FRC, so it's a M6.

Or you can get a Laptrak, that'll put it in comp mode everytime you start car automatically.

Personally, I think this IRS business is bullshit. I've seen a LOT of dyno runs and have never witnessed much of a difference between the two cars (F vs. Y bodies). I've also owned both a 1999 Camaro SS and a 2000 Corvette. The 'Vette was about equal to the SS both on the dyno and at the drag strip when bone-stock. The only real difference I noted was that the C5 was a stronger top-end car when stock than the SS was and that it took to mods better and got faster at a quicker pace than the SS did with the same or similar mods. I attribute this to weight and aerodynamics.

If you go to a Corvette Challenge drag meet sometime you'll see that the C5's IRS doesn't seem to be handicapping any of the cars there. Also, keep in mind that the 'Vettes that once terrorized the streets in the '60's were also equipped with IRS and it didn't seem to hurt them much either.

Yes, absolutely. However, TM is given to cars in different doses by GM. I know that the GTO's got clubbed with TM, but I'm not sure what the differences are between F and Y bodies, if any.

I thought it was the electric seat wouldn't let me push the pedal to the floor!
I am only 5'6". Less power due to IRS but < weight and better Aero= more topend.

I'm aware of the fact that F and Y bodies have TM. I've owned both. My point was that I don't know how much or how aggressively the TM has been applied to them. The new GTO's got a major dose of TM from the factory which is one of the things that has been hurting them at the drag strip.

I believe it's Cartech that has a fix for TM on the GTO.

Keep in mind that there are two TMS, one for the engine one for the tranny (auto).

Competitive driving mode was present right from the very start...TM in the six speeds is basically the Torque limit value that is present in the torque management segment of the programming...It does not pull timing at shifts, like the auto's do, but the if the PCM calculates that the engine is making more torque than the factory programmed value, it will pull timing until it's calculation is safely below the set point...

Peace...Gman
