Default upgrading to a corvette

Guys I'm finally in a financial position where I can afford a better car. My current car is in my sig. I am looking right now to upgrade to a late model (03-04) corvette Z06 or a 2005 C6 LS2. Now I have never owned a corvette. I have been through 3 f-bodys in my life. 88 SBC 350 trans am, 95 firebird formula LT1, and my current car, 2002 trans am LS1. I LOVE pushrod v8's. I just can't stand the quality of GM products, In all my cars my headlight motor gears wore out, and my windows stop working. Things have always been cheap with GM but I love the performance they offer. Other than that huge increase in handling performance, how much better are the corvettes over the f-body's. List all catagories and although I know it handles way better, feel free to emphasize details in any catagory. Keep in mind I am single and live on my own, affordability and the two seater issues are not important to me. I want the ups and downs of owning a vette as opposed to an f-body.

The looks of the car is the biggest advantage, more people will look at you and try to race you just because you drive a vette. Weight is also an advantage you will have over f bodies 3200lbs vs. 3600. Another thing is the top end on the vette they pull harder up-top , because of the shape (drag co.) and weight. All around it's a great car to own and drive.

the first and lasting impression is the overall superior handling, acceleration and braking of the y body, especially when you are talking of a late model zo6 purchase. imo, no comparison. I opted for the A4 beacause I'm older and lazy

If you like performance go with the C5 Z06, as it will kill a f-body or a C6. Check my stock time in sig and stock with a dry 125hp hit, that should tell the story, but not the whole story. Corners better, brakes better, looks better, has a better $$ holding power, and launches like no other car. Do a search for the Z06 stock fast list thread. fastest stock Z06 with CAI and Dr is 11.55, can't touch that with much of anything.
Oh, and I had a '97 C5 and it can't hold a candle to the Z06.

In addition to the above reasons, I also like the idea of heads up display, dual climate controls, tire pressure sensors, and some on board mini computer controlled options...overall, just a fine looking performance car. You can take it to the drag strip or to a road course. It'll hold it's own in either.

I say get an '02+ Z06. It doesn't have all the options as a standard C5 coupe, but in my opinion, it's the best bang for the buck.

There is or was a C5 Z06 for sale on another board that had claims of an 11.8x 1/4 mile bone stock (even stock tires). Yes this is unusual, but damn !

Oh Robert, I need to get with you about a dry kit for my car. I have a few questions.

Cant go wrong with a 02-04 Z06 or a Z51 C6. Both are really good performing cars, with the performance edge going to the Z06. I will be purchasing my fathers 02 Z06 for 30g's and I cant wait!!!! BTW he will be getting an 06 Z06!!!!!

Its a completely different feeling. My camaro handles better than the vette, but the vette feels much smoother. A stock vette will kill a stock f-body in every category but price. I think everyone should have one of each. The vette is my daily driver, the camaro is my racecar. Simply because the camaro is easier/less expensive to fix and I would feel bad if I damaged the vette.

If you are driving an f-body with that 150hp NX kit, a stock Corvette will probably feel somewhat boring and slow

The Corvette is a better built car, and handles better than an F-body. Feels nice and nimble in traffic, very stable feeling. Used Z06s are good bang for the buck, but C6's are nicer inside and out. Z51 C6 is an excellent car, and they get a TON of attention since there aren't that many rolling around yet.

The LS2 also seems to be a much better forced induction setup compared to the LS6.
