Default Which C5 would u choose?

So im looking at getting my first Vette....
Looking to spend <$22k
I know in 01 they made some changes but it might be hard to find an 01 for my price range.. but if I could, would this be my best bet?

Also, I would like to have the Z51 package or selective ride control if I can find it.....

So you think it would be worth spending the money for a slightly newer Vette like an 01... ? Or were the changes not drastic enough to pay the couple grand more?

A good '01 would prob be hard to find in your price range with good miles.... And the differences were not huge... I would just look for a low mile car that falls in your price range... don't be super concerned about the year...

I say 99-00 for your price range. The '01 had some issues being the first model to expierence a change. There is a chance you could buy someone else's headache. Just look for low miles and be patient.

You say that now, but DRIVE a Fixed Roof Coupe vette, YOU WILL FEEL THE DIFFERENCE!! Plus the FRC comes with the Z-51 package and the 2000 model also came with the crome 5 Spoke wheels!

Good luck

Whats up with the clutch explosion? Any word from the ins. co.? My buddy had the same thing happen to him a few weeks ago with a Cartek clutch. 660 rwhp / 690 rwt. It let go with a soft launch on the 2 to 3 shift. Major ******* damage like yours.

well pimpin'.... just got a call yesterday.

Insurance SAYS they are gonna fix everything EXCEPT the clutch, which, if that is true, that would be more then ok with me.

So, if they cut me a check,...and I order the parts, at my price, and since i'm doing the labor here at work,... it could work out rather nice.

So far, i've gotta come up with the money for the two deductables, 1g, my clutch kit, which I need to see what kind of prices I can get.....and long tubes, Since mine got ruined.

I'm gonna try and build the motor with the money but, ultimatly, I just want it back.

Miss driving the ******.

I was in the same boat you were man back in August... I ended up getting a 99' with 60k miels on it for 21k. I know I didn't get the best deal...but it was the best local deal I could. The main thing for you is going to be finding a lower mileage car.... the main difference between say a 99 and a 01 would be the '01 has the ls6 intake manifold, and larger injectors... however stock, the 99 has a slightly larger cam... so they are dead even in performance... if you are looking to do a h/c setup... I'd say go with the 01 as tuning is much easier with the larger injectors not that you can't buy even larger injectors aftermarket... just one less headache. But get the targa top... that's the only reason I didn't buy a z06.. there is nothing like driving with the top off on a summer night man..... everyone says the frc for speed... but there is like 90lbs difference... not the end of the world when you have a head/cam package and are still pulling low 11's.....

To each his own man. Get what you want, thats the most important thing.

I'll be waiting for you and your R1 at 190plus in my less aerodynamic frc.

Damn, most of the cars on that site are rediculously overpriced.

The coupe and FRCs preform basically the same in a straight line. If a FRC raced a coupe with equal drivers the FRC would win by at most 1/10th of a second in the 1/4 mile. Like stated above the coupe actually is more aerodynamic .29 vs .31 drag coefficient. You will not feel any difference. Unless the FRC is a Z06. So, basically buy the one that you want. I like fast backs so I bought a coupe.

It really doesn't matter the year if you are going to end up modifiying it. Just buy one that you like how it looks. Thats my opinion.
