They are nice cars.. You won't get one for under MSRP. You might be lucky to get one at MSRP, but they are still going for several thousand over.
this has been my experience thus far talking to area dealers, they are in a not-going-to-negotiate position, just like the dealers with the new Ford GT were in 6 months ago but now you can get one of those for under MSRP here in CT.
btw out here in CT there is a glut of used C5's including Z06 C5's on dealer lots....you can pick up nice ones with less than 10k miles in the $30K range for a Z06.....tempting.

You have to understand, thay won't ever sell them under MSRP, because they are limited, they won't be like the old Z06's. Every Z06 engine is hand built so that adds to the limited production. GM employees don't get any sort of discount on any type of corvette.
I will say the place to buy a corvette is Florida. The dealer that we got our 50th at sells a ton of corvettes so they get a ton of corvettes from GM, thats how it works. They sold 20 in the week we bout ours, it was also the only time they had 0% on corvettes, but we got ours for about 3000 less than any 50th around michigan here. They can play with the price because they sell so many.
My dad will probably be lookin for one when we go down there in 2 weeks, probably won't buy one yet, because a 2007 Escalade will be replacing the Denali this fall. So maybe next spring for a Z06, probably won't find one until then.

Employees can get a nice discount... Trust me
here's a very interesting thread over at z06vette.com worth reading, it gave me a harsh lesson on the price of the car, but i am hopeful with the right dealer at the right moment i can pen a deal under msrp.....eventually......

There is now at least a ten month wait at dealers taking deposits on the new Z06. One good thing is that GM is now giving the tier three dealers their one allocation now and cutting back on the big three, so see if you can find a small dealer anywhere in the US and fly out when the car comes in. There are many that have done that. There are some dealers that ordered for stock and have Z06's in their showrooms, but you will never, I repeat, never get one for less than thousands over msrp.
Good luck

ah, never say never! if you go to the link i posted you will see many owners got one at msrp.
C6 Z06 = lots of hype right now. once it goes from a full boil to a cool simmer, i'll snag one for invoice or a tad above invoice, watch me.....okay it might take another year but it will be worth the wait.
effin greedy dealers....GM is on the brink of bankruptcy and the network dealers are NOT helping GM by lining the dealerships' own pockets on bloated Z06 pricing.
I should have been more specific.......you will never walk into a showroom cold and pay msrp for a dealer ordered for stock, 2006 Z06 . Personal orders per allocation can be had for msrp, as I got mine, and the other people on that thread also
agree, that seems to be the case. in my experience buying new cars you get a better deal if you order one rather than get it off the lot. another thing i always do is specify "no dealer prep/cleaning...", most dealers are happy to add that clause to the sales order, all they do is the pre-delivery inspection which is basically making sure the brakes work and the lug nuts are tight.
once theres more C6 Z06's in the pipeline a deal at invoice becomes more possible.
i know i can get a 2006 Viper at invoice that deal is easy to get. but i want the LS7. if they stick it in a Camaro before I make a deal on a C6 then I'll go that route.
only application is the Z06 at this time right?
so theres about 600 Z06's being built per month?
supply has got to catch up w/ demand this year at that rate.....then let those deals fly.
.....now if they would only offer interiors other than black.......
