a non removeable permanent HARD TOP, think Z06 body style, without the brake ducts.

The TARGA or HATCH back, or LIFTBACK are the more common, vettes you'll see around.

In the corvette world, it means Fixed Roof Coupe.

It was a low option, lighter, slighly cheaper Corvette. It evolved into the Z06 in 2001. It's over 200lbs lighter than a Corvette coupe.

Here's a cool picture showing all three styles. The hardtop is up front.

Actually its about 80 lbs lighter than the auto coupe.

if you subrtract the curb weights of the 1999 M6 coupe and the FRC you get:
3230-3174 = 56lbs
Most people tend to say 80 because most coupes are autos.
auto coupe vs FRC
3253-3174 = 79 lbs
And, if you bought a 97 vette like me the difference is even closer but not much.

97 M6 coupe vs FRC
3218-3174 = 44 lbs

You're right, I was thinking of the difference between an f-body. The Z06 took it even a little further and dropped the curb weight down to 3,117 lbs.

I think the weight differences between the FRC and the Z06 are mainly due the Run flat tires on the FRC and the titanium exhaust system on the Z06. Also, doesn't the Z06 have a thinner windshield?

z06 is only frc. Fixed roof coupe. You can get 97-04 coupes, or converts. If you want a z06 you get frc.

Z06's started in '01. All Z06's are FRCs.

True all ZO6'S ARE FRC'S BUT all FRC's are not ZO6'S through 2001 all FRC (Fixed Roof Coupe) cars were lighter, cheaper and had usually less options... all were equipped with the m6 trany ... I am not sure of the standard diff... Mine came with the 3.42 gertrag... same as the Z. Starting in 2001 the only FRC cars that you could get were the ZO6's.... I hope that this helps.

yep, 99-00 FRC was only m6 with the Z51 suspension as standard, as opposed to optioned on the coupes.
