King - c6 Z06
King - c6 Z06 i think chevy inadvertly dethroned the viper. i don't think chevy was even trying to make a faster car than the viper. i think they produced the c6 z06 to deal with mainly the AMG line of mercedes. The mercedes AMG line is so raw and rowdy it's like whoa. Mercedes came out with that E55 AMG that was just demolishing all pullied 03/04 cobras, z06s, camaros, modenas, everything. then there was the sl55 amg which was a tad slower, but it was still giving competitors a run for their money. then mercedes went crazy and produced the sl600 and s600 which were even faster than the e55s. then mercedes got even crazier and produced the sl65/cl65 AMG thats even much faster than the sl600. at one point i thought of merecedes as dominating the market powerwise. i mean they literally toppled BMW's M line. eventhough the M5 is a v10, the e55amg and the rest of the merc line is still faster. i believe chevy felt the dominace of the AMG line and had to do something. i think this is why the c6z06 is just so fierce and dominant and can take out the entire AMG line. but the scary thing is, what the is mercedes going to do next...
dodge needs to step its game up b/c the '06 viper sales are WAY down and the gen 3 viper is a huge FLOP. i think the c6z06 just sparked a horsepower revolution in the auto industry b/c in the next few years, there are going to be a slew of 500-600+hp cars that are going to be affordable to the public. i think the auto industry is reaching its horsepower climax.

newsflash i hate to tell you this but the z06 was not faster than the viper in anything when they went head to head not sure where you got your info from, im not rooting for the viper as i own a vette too, but just plain and simple the viper beat the z06

I hate to say it but have you even read any of the magazine reviews of the c6z06? the z06 kicks the vipers *** in almost every stat in just about every review.... occasionally the viper wins one particular event but loses overall...

zo6 01-04 is definatly faster than a viper, the 06 zo6 is definatly faster than a viper. I will say though that the viper is more rare and exotic. The e55 amg is NASTY! really nasty, enough said, and the same price as a zo6. Zo6 rocks the house though.

i believe the 06zo6 is faster than a viper from both a stop and roll, but an 01-04 z06 is not faster than a viper from a roll, but from a stop who knows.

I disagree. Chevy doesn't compete with Mercedes AMG line of cars. The Z06 is meant to compete with the Viper and Ford GT, but for less money.
The MB AMG cars are about a lot more than just going fast.
The Z06 is a 2 dr hardtop sports car. The Mercedes you mentioned range from mid-size 4drs to hadrtop convertibles. Very different target market, even if they do come with stupid HP. The new BMW M6 would be a better competitor for the Z06 than anything from Mercedes.

I have a 2006 E55 and it ran 12.16 in the 1/4, bone stock on stock street tires. A buddy of mine that lives near me has run 11.38 on drag radials with a pulley/ecu in his E55.
