Default Ls1 engine pull 99 vette?

Whats easier engine from top or bottom or is it even possible from top?Would prefer pulling from top especially with that tranny design. If can come out from top what should be removed?I have pulled few camaro engines <ls1 and lt1 but not any vettes.

its easiest from bottom provided you have a 4 point lift. i pulled from the top and it too is easy. basically, you just unbolt the torque tube, exhaust, drop the subframe, move it forward and off the input shaft of torque tube, unbolt motor mounts, and pull her on up. of course lots of little connectors/ground wires, etc.

Out the top is not bad and definitely possible. If I had a lift I'd try it from the bottom. Just start unbolting stuff and finally the five bolts holding the torque tube to the rear bell housing.

Don't use air tools on the engine cradle or rear cradle. Only hand tools. Loosening or tightening.

On the C6, which is pretty close, I held the k-member or cradle with an ATV jack while I held the motor up with a cherry picker. Lowered the cradle down about 8 inches so the oil pan would clear the steering rack and poof she slid right out the top. It was possibly the easiest engine removal I've ever done. Well, the 911 was pretty simple but that's apples and oranges.
