I dont use pads but you can grab some cheap rubber floor mats from walmart to cut and glue on your jack... I use 2 slash cut 4x4 peices of wood to drive the car up on for the front and the rear fits fine...

I would use a 2x2x.5 piece of wood. Place this in the cup of the jack. Buy a hockey puck and put an eye bolt in. The eye bolt will hold the puck in place while you slide the jack under the car.

Elite Engineering. The only way to go.

Have to have for lowered vettes.

One of the best investments I have made. Plus they look cool.

I recommend using only one hockey puck per corner. I have used everything from Elite Engineering to CAU to shop made pucks. For the money the hockey pucks and a few parts from local parts store is the best bang for the buck.

I use the hockey puck trick from the 97vette.com how to that was posted above (I doubled up the pucks as suggested).

I drive up on a 2x4 and that give's me enough room for a standard floor jack to lift the car using the pucks (I use two jacks, one on each side).

so what happens when say we have to take our cars in for something that we cant do like say mounting tires and they need to put it on a lift, do we need to tell them to put padding?

I built a ramp with two-layers of 2x8"s, cut a 45º angle with the circular saw to drive the front on. It leave just enough clearance to jack up on the rear cradle. Once the rear is on stands, I jack up on the front crossmember and I'm done.

I'm not rich enough to buy a new Al low profile jack and a set of pucks/pads, or patient enough to jack up one corner at a time.

That's when you leave it in the garage on jackstands and bring the tires in by themselves

Ok so im pretty sure im gonna pick up a C5 in the next few months, and i work at a dealership and have full access to tools, lift ect.. and i want to verify i can somehow lift on these at work. They are above ground racks where two arms swing underneath the car and lift from there. Anyone lift on these? i want to make sure its possible before gettng too serious...

Thanks
Dan

Yes you can use the above ground lifts with the arms that swing under just make sure your using some kind of puck. That lift was used when I got my clutch installed but I used 4 hockey pucks. I use the hockey puck set up like mentioned earlier with an aluminum low profile jack. Its the only one I found that would slide under the car with the hockey puck since I am lowered. I got it from Harbor Freight it was only like $80. It has worked great for the short time I have had it and my buddies has worked great for nearly 2 years now.
