Default I need a cage for my C5!

Can anyone help me find a vendor or anyone who can make me a 5 point roll bar for my C5 coupe?

I have an order in with Wolfe Racing, but they don't have any steel and this order has been in since early July! So I need to find another vendor.

Thanks

Are you needing a bar for NHRA or SCCA?

I'm gonna do my best to get some pictures up late tomorrow evening. I've been saying it for a while, just haven't posted them yet.

I'm talking about the pictures of my cousins coustom six point NHRA legal chromeoly roll cage with swing out door bars. It looks really nice, it is custom, and it cost about 1200 to 1400 bucks. When you see the workmanship, you'll see the worth.

I'd highly recommend a CUSTOM cage but...i'm sure i'll get shot for saying that. There is NO SUBSTITUTE for craftsmanship on a custom fitted cage, compaired to a mail order bolt in.

NOT saying anything is wrong with a bolt in...just saying that when you see the pictures, I think you'll agree that there is a difference.

I'll post them tomorrow night.

ECS makes a weld in kit or Cajundude on the Corvette forum. Cajundude is $1200, all 6 points are welded directly to the frame. . This is including the swingout kit that costs $300 from Chassis Works.

is 1200 what he charges just for the cage, or is that installed? That is kinda pricey.

It looks damn good though....... No arguing that.

Thanks for the post.

Unlike the Wolf that is Weld/Bolt-in combination (due to C5's composite construction). All bars weld with plates bolting to floor with additional tubing out to frame for main hoop and front bars as well as additional plates under the floor which can are to be welded to the frame. So plated sandwiched between balsawood panels, the other 2 weld directly to the frame.. And are chromemoly. How much extra is it to add swing out bars to the Wolf?

The 5 point bolt in cage with MILD STEELE is just over $500, and the swing out bar is another $100 or so. I think the whole thing shipped to the front door is right around $750-$800. Chromoly on the other hand is more expensive! Is that what that cage is made of?

yes chromemoly and dual swingouts installed. Try talking to ECS, A&A Corvettes, or Cajundude they can tell you more. I've seen the Wolf 6 point in person and is nice. But like Chris at ECS explained it to me, if you flip it hard, the bar is only held in place by the SMC/balsawood floor pan the they sandwitch the 2 metal plates to. Not what I want in my car as fast as it gets to 150...

If you want to bring your car here, it will be $1850.00 turn key installation. If you are just talking about a kit, that is $1200. This is including the swingout kit that costs $300 from Chassis Works. Powdercoating is an option for a local install as well. Not sure how that would go on the ship out kits. I can get the whole thing powdercoated for $175.00. You get your choice of 1 5/8" or 1 3/4" cromoly tubing.

I have a bolt in 5 point from R&D, and I agree with Jamie, If i had to do it over again, I would def go with a custom cage.

Thanks for the post.
Actually, the cage is $1850 installed. You get what you pay for in this case. This is around $1000 cheaper on the turn key install price than other places of similar quality. I believe there is a place in Dallas that does one for the same price but I didn't like some of the attachment points they use. Kits will be $1150 but I am not shipping them out just yet. You need to realize though that the kits are not DIY unless you know how to TIG weld and have the knowledge to put these in. Just remember, this is your life. These cages are cromoly. If you do not want swing out hardware you can subtract $300 from either one. Once the cages are ready to go ya'll will know as I will look into vendor status for a variety of things including parts powdercoating such as valve covers, etc.

I agree with Jamie, and trust me when I tell you that his cousins cage/bar is nothing short of spectacular. I definitley would want that one in my car as it offers a great feeling of safety/securtiy....

For those that are unable to locate a welder/builder I did find this bolt-on unit that looks well designed....

Good luck!
