basically, it turns traction control off, while leaving the active handling mode on in case your car decides to get a little sideways. You can access this mode by holding down the traction control button down for 5-7 seconds, and on you information display panel it will say "competitive driving mode." Very cool feature.

in simplest terms, it will apply individual brakes if the angle between where the front wheels are pointing and the actual direction of the car reaches a certain threshold. it will try to correct it to bring the car under control. it will NOT "save it" if you really overcooked it in a turn, but it can mean a difference between a "close one" and wrapping the car around a tree or kissing the concrete.

I made all my passes in Comp Mode and it didn't effect my times adversely. People that say Comp Mode is slower in the 1320' are FOS.
On my C5Z06s the rear end came loose on two of 500 passes, and Comp Mode saved me both times. Conversely, I've seen five C5s hit the wall at the drags and all had the active handling computer turned off. Very dumb driver error.

Well put, but one more thing to add if you want to clear the Comp driving message hit the reset button.(the car will stay in comp mode, but let you access different DIC functions) I often do this because I will watch the temps of the car while in the staging lanes.

One more thing. If you're in Competitive Driving mode and then recycle the ignition (turn it off and then on again, for example after stalling the car), you must re-enter Comp Driving mode again before doing the burnout and making the pass.
