07 C6 Intake/Exhaust
Im not too farmiliar with C6s. But I know with F-Bodys, the cheapest way to upgrade the intake is just replacing the lid. Corvettes seem different though. Can you replace the corvette lids? Or is it like a whole system?
I know SLP and K&N make kits. I've also heard good things about the Varram kits but we will be driving this car across country in December so I would be worried about water getting inthe Varram.
Now, Exhaust. Ive seen several different setups. Hes mainly just wanting a cat-back... What would be the best setup keeping stock headers. Ive seen Setups inlcuding the X pipe w/out cats and also setups with just the mufflers....
Like I said, We are driving this car across country in December so practicallity is a must... Basically he is just looking for to add a few horses and tone up the exhaust.
So what would yall reccomend.
Thanks
I run the Magnaflow catback with x-pipe (and had it before headers, etc.). It's a very deep note, quiet, very loud/aggressive at WOT, and no difference in noise at highway speeds from stock. It's like the Borla Touring at all levels except WOT, where it is much more aggressive. It's expensive, but very good quality. X-pipe isn't necessary if he plans no more mods. If he wants a little more hp, then go x-pipe and get the Magnaflow hi-flow cats, which are direct bolt-on replacements to the stock cats.
Good luck!
Now do they make like a K&N filter that just drops in the stock airbox?
The supposed advantage to the single filter (besides the fact it's huge and can get more air), is that it stops the stock air intake from breathing from both sides and swirling the air to the MAF.
To be honest, and in most people's opinion, including mine, the CAI on these cars do very little unless you go with a true bottom breather/vararam. Not worth the money unless you intend to do more mods. You can drop the K&Ns in and get rid of the crappy stock paper filters.
Exhaust doesn't do a hell of a lot either. I picked up 11hp (could have just been a better dyno day) with the Magnaflow exhaust (with x-pipe) and halltech stinger (basically big K&N filter). Certainly not worth $1800 for the performance...sound is totally up to you.
