It was like running over a land mind at 100+mph when it happened. Hood blew open, all hydraulics lost, brakes lost, windsheild shattered with the snap of a finger, wipers blown off the car, pieces of steel pressure plate flying inside the interior, long tubes crushed like big foot stepped on them, fuel lines svered(causing one of the two cars to catch fire), wireing harness destroyed, bellhousing destroyed, frames dented from impact, starter split in pieces...etc etc.

Again, don't buy a spec. Please. I wouldn't be saying this if it wasn't important. The RAM VDS,...has a "blowproof" pressure plate. One of the reasons, I am buying that...aside form it's load capability and the success alot of our members have had with it.
Anyways...peace out.

**** a Spec.
I had the Spec 3 in my old Vette and it wouldn't shift worth a ****.
My buddy had a Spec 3 (which I suggested him to get before I had problems with mine) and it blew the springs out of it.

I vote the Textralia also and it's holding up well to the spray and hard launching.
I have some links to "how to" the clutch at home if your still wanting to do it, let me know. I also had the motor manual for my car which has a different way of doing it compared to the "how to".

It's a long story but,...I truly didn't get anywhere. Since then, I have came in contact with ALOT of different people onthe street, that have bought spec's. From honda owners, to LS1 owners, you name it, I told them about my problem. Well, in the end, everyone except for a couple of people have removed there assemblies, or have sent them back to them before they where installed.
Lets just say, SPEC knows my name well now,...I wouldn't be suprised if there was a contract on my head.
People would call, and say, "i'd like to return my clutch I just bought,..."
...spec would say.."WHY?" friends,..."because it came aprat in my buddies car" Spec. "Tell Jamie to stop making rumors up about our product"
My friends would never mention my name, yet they knew it well. So,...I hope they have reaped the benefits of not helping me out. Like I said in the past, i'll continue to let people know about this.
The RAM is the way to go for me....hopefully next week, i'll recieve it.
See ya bro.

Yeah... Jamie's clutch dilemma made me be afraid of my Spec3 I had awhile back. I had noise so I was afraid and pulled it...
RAM HD is a good one for the buck... I had one until my torque tube bushings came apart and fucked up the clutch. Two of my best friends have them also and love them. (a 402 LS2 and a 346 LS1 with a 150 shot N20.)
I just put a Textralia OZ-700 in my car and finished breaking it in.. It seems like a really nice clutch so far. Pedal is a tad heavier than stock, but not much. It's MUCH lighter than the RAM. It drives like stock, except it grabs. If I told someone that my car had a stock clutch and they drove it, they wouldn't be able to tell otherwise. Another reason I went with the Textralia is the good customer service they seem to have.. Haven't had to deal with them yet, but if I ever have to.....

Cool deal Steve...glad your happy with your choice.
What does the textralia run for? Curious, cause my clucth, has not been ordered yet(we tried last week but, my schedule was soo jacked up I had no time to sit)...... i'll have to see what I can find tonight on the web, before tomorrow. You DON'T have to go with an adjustable slave with the textralia either, or do you? The RAM, they recommend it for my application(head/cam/spray).
Thanks for the input on your setup man.

NO shim or adjustable master/slave deal is needed. I used a new GM slave, cause mine was trashed from the torque tube deal. I already had a new GM master cyl from the other clutch install. That is what Textraila says to use. (Stock master and slave with NO shim) My buddies with the Ram's aren't using them either. Just the new style OEM stuff.... With the Ram HD, a shim is required. These are the regular Powergrip HD's.. not the VDS.. Not sure about the VDS.
It was more expensive than what I've used before, but I'm tired of all the BS.. So this was what was recommended....We shall see in time. I really hope...
I'm running 6lbs of boost for now and plan on staying there... It's got a stock bottom end in the car and I'd like it to hold for a bit. Haven't been on the dyno yet, but it feels like it's gained another 100hp or so... I'm hoping for 550rwhp when properly dialed in with the tune. We still have a few things to work out. RIght now it's on the conservative side, running good. I've driving it to work every day now that it's fixed...
Oh... make sure you check your couplers in the torque tube while you have it out for the clutch. See if they are cracked.. If so replace them. From what I can tell, you drive like me and my friends do.. lol.. I've had bad luck with torque tubes... I have found a source on the forums for OEM couplings. I just said **** it and installed 2 solid aluminum ones this time.. Replaced the front tube bearing as well. So far so good.
If I can help ya.. let me know..

Now, honestly, I have never hear of the coupler issue(s)....or even knew about them, atleast by that, "couplers". Any pictures of these? How did you know that you needed them, other then the visual cracks? Did the car vibrate? Right now, my whole driveline seems to have a vibration @ 3000+ rpm's...which happened the last time the car was at WOT and the clutch spun on me, causing my rev's to go from 5K to an almost instant 7K rpm's. After that moment, I have had a somewhat major vibration, in the car, and haven't really driven it since. I don't know what I am in for, until I drop it, and visually look at everything. I haven't done any research regarding this(vibration),...nor have I searched any of my online acces GM documents to see if this is common, or if they have a step by step diagnosis for this "vibration" thing.
I wonder, if this has anything to do with the "couplers" you mentioned....or if I just waisted my disc/pressure plate. I dunno, i'm just guessing.
Anyways, any information you have about that, or pictures, or insight, is always appreciated. So, in advance, thanks man.
As far as your setup, I thik 550rwhp will be nasty, and hoenstly, your gonna have ALOT of cars that will be NO competition from ANY speed, at any time. Thats sick. I don't think you'll have a problem hitting that number, safely.
I like the price of the clutch you went with, and the idea you can use the factory GM hardware, cause for me, I can get that stuff in a day, and I have a decent GM discount. Which, for me....discounts are what makes my car tick. lol. "baller on a budget"
The VDS,..RAM does recommend you use and adjustable setup. Soo...I dunno. I am still probbaly gonna do this setup,...but, we'll see this week.
I'm also gonna get the blanket...to wrap my bellhousing. I think it'll provide me with some mental drama that I have, everytime I power shift.
Again, thanks Steve.
