Beware Of The 2007 Shelby Gt500
yeah its a fast car but its also very expensive, you wont see as many new slobras out there as you will the 03-04s, which are some really quick cars that can be had cheap. they will sell as many Cobras as chevy sells Z06s.
I heard from a Roush dealer that they made 6800 the first year and are slated for 9,000 next year. That is on par with the SVT Cobras. They will not be rare unless everyone keeps them in their garages.

I would just spend $25K and buy a MUSTANG and mod the hell out of it, probably would be better off than paying the $45K price tag for a GTSLOW, I mean GT500.
The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
~65K for a badly executed product vs. 25K +40K for a killer customized product, what a tough question....
Just goes to show ya what kind of person is behind the wheel.
Seriously man...3 seconds is pretty huge...
When my buddy beat me by 2 seconds around a road course in his M3 vrs my c5 coupe....Well I was devastated and 2-3 seconds is a lot more than you think it is. Your talking many many MANY carlengths...he beat me because of the driver modd...
However..The viper and c6Z06 beat the GT500 by 3 seconds because their better cars in every aspect...Same drivers on the same day just proved that.
And it's not close to the same class as the SRT1- and C6Z06...
C6Z06 ran a 11.7 at 125 mph
SRT10 ran a 12.1 at 121 mph
The GT500 ran a 12.7 at 114 mph....Now the ET is mostly driver dependent. But the mph tells the hole story hear..
The GT500 trapps 7 mph lower than the SRT 10 Viper and 11 mph lower than the C6Z06 on average in the 1/4 mile...
That is HUGE....That would be like comparing a 350Z that trapps 101 mph to a C5 coupe that trapps 108 mph and a 03 Cobra that trapps 111 mph and then telling them to all line up on the freeway...
The C5 would get pulled by the 03cobra till around 130 mph were it would start to close the gap but still loose in the end. The 350Z on the other hand would get left like a red headed step child from the very beginning and never recover...
WOULD YOU SAY THE 350z'S IN THE SAME CLASS AS THE C5 COUPE AND 03 COBRA?????
The GT500 isnt even in the same league as the GTS Viper...12.2 at 118 mph would still just be too much for it's 12.7 at 114 mph...
Now the C5Z06's 12.4 at 116 mph is just close enough that you can say the GT500's in it's class...
So please Ford guys...Dont kid your selves. The GT500 was in that comparison simply because it was the new stang. It is no were near the SRT10 or especially the C6Z06...In any catergory

I saw him racing on 11.12 at Byron. I think the car has a smaller pulley and a CAI. My friend's 02 Z06 with air filter, headers, !cats, and dr's was going 11.8@116 with a big head wind. I went 9.8@141 in the same wind.

C6 Z06 for 70k+ around here they are going for 80k or pick up a discounted new C6 for 43k and buy an APS twin turbo kit $8900 + Fuel system upgrade for $1500.00 come out a head financially enough to rebuild the short block, low compression pistons, forged h-beam rods a 4" crank for $3500(reusing block) ported LS2 heads $1800, reassemble the 402 + install & tuned $2500 = rough est. $61,200 + ttl on the C6. Crank the boost up to 14-16 psi and your making 850 rwhp and your slaughtering a new C6 Z06 by football fields.
**forgot to add twin disk clutch $1200 and output shafts on the rear end, rebuild 1k.
In any case you havent even hit the base msrp off a new Z06.
