Default 2002/03 Vs. 2004 Z06's performance

I was just checking out the 1.4mi times posted here, and noticed that there are so many more 2002 Z06's on the list. I have heard "rumors" that the 02's simply performed slightly better than 04's. Is there any concrete evidence that this is the case, or are there just more 02's on the road racing?

I believe the only significant difference is the fuel system between the two cars, and the highest dyno numbers I've heard of seem to come from 04's. I'd be willing to bet there is no difference really and it comes down to like you theorized, more 2002's being raced. That car was "new" and still a big deal then and lots of people wanted to find out what they were capable of bone stock before mods were even available likely. Most people who buy these cars know what they are capable of now and either don't bother posting good but not excellent times, or just don't drag race the cars. Just a guess.

Well the Z06 fast list has been around for a few years, and yes, it has been noticed by many that the '02 seems to be the faster of the the lot. Why, who knows? but the facts support the '02 as being reported as a fast times holder much so more than the other years. When I take people for rides they allways say man that's the fastest car I have ever rode in.

i dont believe that theory at all. i ran my '04 bone stock against many other 01-03 Z06's and i beat everyone of them. driver mod? maybe... thats what my friends tell me anyway.

now i have a lil-O' 403 with a baby cam *cough* its been tuned really well to sound small, lol. i freaking love it now. total sleeper. another friend of mine with a cold air, cam, kooks long tubes, pulley and a tune, sounds meaner and "bigger" than my car. we ran and its not contest now.

I know that there are some fuel differences, but what about suspension differences? Anyone know?

'04 all aluminium control arms, bilistien shocks on '04, i believe one of the sway bars is bigger as well. valves are sodium filled light weight. The front glass is thinner for weight savings as well. I think my '04 was a pure beast from the factory. not sure what it dyno'd stock, but 6psi on a p1 blower and it made 518/459. about 35-40 more than expected. When stock, I also had no problems pulling my friends 400/380 2800lbs turbo charged 240sx. He said that he had never lost to a "stock" Z06 before, he is an advit street racer.

the fuel system is limited to 650rwhp with a boost a pump regardless of injector size. there is something about the fuel pump bucket that is the limiting factor. so it has to be modified or a you need to pick up a fuel system including tank, all wiring, rails, lines, front to back, etc from any 97-02 C5/Z06 and then do the fuel pump upgrades in order to get into the 750+. thunder racing supposedly sells a C5a fuel pump kit that racetronix developed for thunder racing as a fuel system upgrade for the 03-04 C5/Z06's. I have no idea how much it costs, but will find out when i add a 250 shot to my 403 next year.

125 dry is what im going to put on it after the boost a pump is added.
