I agree bro, but in the end a bad *** h/c c5 Z vs a "stock" c6 Z would be a drivers race in my opinion. Either one could / should win but it depends on the driver.

Here's a video of what a H/C C5Z can do on the strip.
Stock suspension and weight.

My buddy who has run 11.2 in a bone stock c6Z will be driving with me to the strip next weekend. Maybe we can do a highway run on the way there and a track run also.

ive seen an 01 heads and cam z06 run a new z06 w/ cia and catback from a roll. the 01 h/c car put down somewhere around 460 and im unsure about the new z. it wasnt much of a race. the torque from the 427 was way to much for the stock cubed heads and cammed 01. they didnt run from a dig but id imagine it wouldnt be any different.

Maybe 35+ extra and I can outrun ya, anything less then 35 and you will still beat me.
Had fun getting beat, and glad to have met ya, stay in touch for round 3. If you are still stock the next time we hook up (no pun intended) I believe I will give you that race you had been hoping for. Maybe even win one ......maybe
Later bro.

Unfortunately my friend, I have finally lost my mod virginity and have a set of polished, Kooks long tube headers w/ x-pipe and deleted cats (stock mufflers though), and a cold air intake sitting right next to me. I will be installing these goodies right when spring comes around. I should be right about the 500 rwhp mark with these mods (headers, intake and tune). But, that is all I am getting (unless I get a crazy spontaneous moment again and order a cam )
I also blacked out the wheels and tinted the windows. So, When you see the car in the spring, it will be a different car looking car as well as a little bit quicker.
I hope all is well with you and Dennis.
p.s.- On a sidenote, I am also back in the gym. So, not only will my car look a little different, but so will I.. Can't wait to get together soon. Take care.

Hey Fadi, surprised you went with the Kooks. I thought you were sold on the LG Pro Long Tubes. Anyways glad to hear you broke your cherry on the engine mods. That is probably all you will need to blow away anything you may run across. You already were killing everything stock, this is going to be scary. Are the headers 1 3/4 or 1 7/8? Alright bro stay in touch, and can't wait to see the car next year.

Yes some new muscle, depending on how training goes. I am weighing 260 right now. Hope to add another 10-15 lbs and then start dieting. As far as the car goes, yes on that too. Would love to have the 90/90 combo.
You should go check out the LG Motorsports website. In the results section theres a c5 running the g5xx cam making an ungodly 530 rwhp and 476 rwtq !! Its nuts. All the graphs were posted on 11/24/06.
On a side note to all the c5 guys, the g5xx cam is track only. Doesn't like to idle and stalls very easily. Great track cam, was building power all the way to 6800 rpms and looked as if the only limit on the hp output was the limit on rpms that the engine could spin without exploding. Please check it out and get back to me.
Theres also an 03 zo6 making 503 rwhp 450 rwtq, and a regular c5 making 483 rwhp and 450 rwtq. Please look at the graphs. Awesome.

Remember the old axiom: horsepower is for talking but torque is for walking

That was my reasoning as to why I couldn't hang with Fadi and his yellow C6 Z. Too much torque everywhere. The only place I could run well against him was from 100 mph to 150. Took the driver mod out of the equation. (slow shifting) On a 100 mph roll I am in 4th, and can hit 150 without shifting. I won once he said I jumped, he won the rematch and I say he jumped. But damn does the VaraRam show its power at speeds above 100 mph. Now just need a ported 90/90 combo and we'll see what she can do .....

My last trip to the track there was a C6Z on BF drag radials...
I am a h/c C5Z and we ran right after one another time and time again...
My tire setup consisted of my daily tire which are Toyo RA-1's and they were aired down to 30lbs....
My best 60' of the day was a 1.86 due to the inability to get the tires to stick...obviously.
The best run I saw him get was an 11.8 at 121, and most of his runs were in the low12/high 11's....
My best run was an 11.66 at 122.33 with a 1.89 60'
Not to say that we were equal in driving ability as I do not him personally, but while on the road you're going to encounter those who drive better and those who don't...
Long story short: can a C5Z hang with or even edge out a C6Z? Of course as there are to many varaibles present of every run. I think the key to outrunning most higher hp cars is to have similiar power and a better overall setup ie: tires/suspension/driver mod.
Take care guys..

Good points wavrdr, and thanks for adding something good to this old, tired thread.
On another note, if a ported 90/90 setup could get me to 480 rwhp and 435 rwtq and I can shift a bit quicker what do you think the outcome would be then?? I am banking that the ported 90/90 is the last thing I am doing to my car, and if it isn't enough to beat the stock c6 z's then oh well at least it will be closer. Another 20 rwhp ought to tighten up the gap quite a bit. Later bro.

I have a nitrous kit for the odd time that I encounter a faster car on the street...No times yet though...
Just put a small wet shot on that thing and you'll be golden....
That will help you leave a lasting impression

Goodluck with the 90/90, it should add 15-20 to a H/C setup.

Went back to the track last night...
2 new Z's...one broke his rearend and the other smoked his clutch as the car would not go into 3rd under high rpm....
I on the other hand went 1.82 60' and 11.56 at 122+ at +2000DA....
Watching a h/c C5Z make multiple passes with no issues while the C6Z's go home on trailers......PRICELESS!
I love my C5Z that's paid for!
