Default Will a H/C C5Z06 run even with a stock C6Z

Will a H/C C5Z with 450 rwhp run even with a stock C6Z06 up to 170 mph ( were the c5Z is gear limited)....

Just kinda curious..Also..How hard is it too hit 450 rwhp on a C5z?

There are a few 500 rwhp ls2 with stock bottom ends...That would propel you faster than the 460 rwhp ZO6...OR at least equal no doubt...

I've seen 4 C6 Z06s at the track. I'm about 85% sure they were mostly stock. They all were running anywhere from 120-124mph. My 2001 Z06 car traps between 116-117.9 with a pulley, headers, and CAI so that would mean I'd need another 4-7 mph to "keep up" with them (on the track).

IMO, good driving, boltons, and a cam should get you equal to a stock C6 Z06. However, a set of heads would allow you to pull one and cover up some driver error. Now, if you line up against Ranger, you'll need every bit of that heads and cam, and possibly some jungle juice to move past him .

FWIW, all of the C6 Z06s at the track ran between 14.5 (yes, 14 seconds) and 11.5.

Hand finished Trick Flow heads from East cost superchargers, their cam, ported fast 90/90, and 1 7/8" american racing headers no cats will net you about 510rwhp... A little less with cats and 1 3/4" headers

Dyno...

Yes, a properly built/properly driven heads and cam C5 Z06 can potentially beat a stock C6 Z06.
I was at a track rental yesterday where I saw two stock C6 Z06s running 11.2s (one driven by Ranger who has gone 11.2 in his own bone stock C6 Z and 10.85 with just drag radials)...the second fastest C5 Z06 (RobZ, 10.55@130+ in good air) in the world also just happened to be there and clicked off a 10.7@128+.

g5x4 cam, AFR 205 heads, pro long tube headers, ported 90mm FAST intake, ported 90 mm TB, ud pully, and Meziere ewp with a MEAN *** tune allowing 7000 rpm shifts. Should put you in the 480 + rwhp range and let you eat the "STOCK" c6 Zo6 up by about a car or so. c5 Z's have better gearing then normal c5's. I have a strong h/c c5 and didn't get beat that bad by the all mighty c6 ZO6. Fadi is a great driver and flat out won the rematch by a car or two, but on the eway running against a guy not at Fadi's level I won by 2 cars on 70-150 run. My heart was pounding out my chest as I pulled ahead. Best win ever.

A H/C C5 Z is not gear limited at 170mph... Ive had mine close to 180....still had PLENTY of gear and power left.

Thanks for believing me that I was just over 190 without video on the speedo. I thought it would be obvious by the blur of the scenery and counting my shifts. Anyways for the record I have kissed 200 on a few occasions on that same area just no video, maybe next year. A 3.42 gear in 5th on an M6 c5 (non zo6) is good for 204.xxx mph @ 7000 rpms. Just thought I would put that out there for the record that a c5 can hit 200 mph. I am speaking from experience.

Morgan Motor Sports (MMS) had 500 RWHP H/C kits back in 2001 for the LS1 engines. A nice H/C can kit now will have an 05 Z06 beat a stock C6 Z06.

"Tom The Roofer" ran 10.70's back than with a MMS H/C kit. The "Aggressor 500" kit IIRC.

I would say that with a good h/c package and tuning you would be running pretty close with the new Z, but those things are beast on DR and all stock motor setups. They just seem to be getting faster and faster.

Would love to see it. Enough money and you can do anything with your C5Z including beating most street cars.

Running on 7 out of 8 cylinders in my H/C Z06 I ran a C6 Z06. I pulled him in second and third, but without one cylinder he passed me in fourth and I stayed at his bumper from there.

You should have no problems with a stock one with an LS2 stroker motor.

Soo many different variables. Where does the "C5" make it's power? Thats the question. Power under the curve. Torque. Driver(s). Etc etc. It is possible to make 500rwhp with heads and cam. I think if you have a 450rwhp C5 pitted against a stock C6 Z, it would be a drivers race.

We're working on a 500+rwhp C6, head and cam car right now. Still driveable, and still have alot more room to add power with various bolt-ons that the car currently doesn't have. Anyways...I think it's possible to beat a C6Z06 with a head and cam vette. I just hope it's not a blow out. In otherwords, If I straight up walk a C6 Z06, i'll know that it was due to driver error in the Z. And that just wouldn't be fun.

If you can get about 465 rwhp, then yes, as that is what it will take to edge out a C6 Z06 in a C5 Z06.

My car would make 190 with the stock C5 Z06 gearing....I could have done it before, I just dont have the ***** to get that extra 10 on a public highway. In fact I know Ill never do 180 again. Too many things can happen on a public road....

What's up Fadi, happy holidays. We'll run them again when I have my 90/90 set up. I hate to have to admit this but you know I have 460 rwhp SAE and I think I will need more then 5 extra ponies to defeat your driving skills. Maybe 35+ extra and I can outrun ya, anything less then 35 and you will still beat me.

Had fun getting beat, and glad to have met ya, stay in touch for round 3. If you are still stock the next time we hook up (no pun intended) I believe I will give you that race you had been hoping for. Maybe even win one ......maybe

Later bro.

I give the edge to the c5Z on the strip because it has a better chance at a lower 60'and with newer tech. some guys are making 500rwhp.
On the street it would be close.
