Default Flippin' Sweet.

Yo.

Soo...this is how it goes. After about a few months of planning...a few weeks of putting some money aside here, some money aside there, a couple of weeks of straight nighttime labor, sundays included, a couple of days of last minute chaos, some last minute repairs,...I finally got the car ready to drive it up to the track yesterday for a track event.

I left with the intention of stopping at the dyno, to pop off a couple of spray runs, to make sure the A/F was correct for the size shot I was planning to run. Last minute changes, I had to end up going directly to the track. On the way out there, which is a pretty desolate area, I was able to pull off some standing starts on the street with the car. Since, I had JUST put about 520 miles on the new clutch,....and it's been over a month since I was able to actually go full throttle, let alone bang gears. I wanted practice.

So, I launch the car in first, obvious wheel spin from the new F1 supercars, 2nd gear, car gets loose, I stay in it,...didn't go to third. Stopped, did it again, practice over. Go to track.

Pull up,...racing had not yet started but, was about too. I get all my gear out of the car, my change of clothes from work, tools, extra bottles,...all kinds of ****. Slapped on the helmet....ready to go. By the time it took me to get all the stuff outta my car, a viper had already clicked off 5 runs(it was a private track event, with only 12 cars, which there was only about 8 there at the time, 1 running). The viper was going 12.2 at best at that time, with a 118, 117 mph. After seeing the cars there, other then the 1 full dragged out built turbo buick, I felt that I was gonna without a doubt out MPH and ET every car there. No doubt in my mind about it.

Burnout box... I do a nice burnout,...quick dump of the clutch, about a 6 or 7 second SMOKEY burnout, and I pull to the tree. Nobody to race here but myself, only one lane open. Right lane it was. Now, this is my first time EVER in this car at the track(i raced my old on there but, never this one), it is a completely different animal, way faster then my old car, and although I had drag radials in the pits waiting for me, I wanted to see what I could do on street tires, in everday trim. Anyways, I launch the car, at roughly 2800rpms,,,......spinning bad for about 5 feet, and then the car, all of a sudden, just hooked up, which was really weird. It seemed like it was very weak. I hit a 2.1 60 foot time..... shifted short at 6300rpm, shifted third again short at around 6500, and the did the same for 4th. I usually would shift at 6800-7000 rpm but, again, this was the off highway shakedown pass. The whole time, from the after the first 5 feet out, the car kinda fell on its face. It didn't feel like it had all of it's *****, but did SOUND as if it did.

It went 2.1 60 foot, and a 12.1 @ 118mph. thats 4-7mph off from what we belive the car to be atleast.

Here's where I find out why.

Right after the pass was over,...I the return road,...my motor, starts making metallic noises....metal scrapping metal, metal box sping sounds...it gets loud, really loud, I quickly went in my D.I.C. and looked at my oil pressure. It was 5-to 8 psi.

So, long story short. All that time recently invested, was pretty much a waste of time, other then a learning experience. My engine, had 108,500 miles on it. It was to be expected at some point but, it wasn't expected on the first pass at the track, especially without the use of nitrous.

That said. I'm considering selling my other block that I have. Which is a 2005 14,000 mile CTS-V LS6 motor. It was a gift, from a friend, out of his car(we put a built motor in his). If the heads on my motor are still good, which I belive them to be, I will be most likley be selling the setup.

The FAST 90mm intake, LS6 motor, like new, AFR 205's, harland sharp rockers,LS6 lifters, dual springs, TRAK camshaft or a blower grin cam(I have both) heavy duty timing chain...and i'm sure a few other things. Over 7 grand worth of stuff. Make me an offer, and i'll consider it.

I am not 100% sure I am going to get rid of everything but, I am STRONGLY about to do this.

No, I am not getting out of the game. Just pissed off. And i'm gonna have to go another route. Either way, my car won't be fixed or even diagnosed until sometime next year. I have other cars to work on, and every weekend until late january won't even have a day off.

Best wishes...peace out.

Well ****. I don't know what to say other than I'm in the boat with ya right next to you. I'm on a 15 year straight kick in the *****. But, I won't quit. I actually think I am an experiment to see how long a human can go getting kicked in the nuts. But, none of that is making you feel better. Hey, its hot rodding, and you know that by the tone of your post. Keep your head up and we'll cheer you on in whatever you decide to do.

I am in the market for a Fast 90 mm Intake and 90 mm T-body. If you are parting things out. Sell it to the first buyer though. I don't know when I will be able to use it. I am going to get my car running first before I buy anything else.

Sorry to hear about the misfortune. What do you think happened? 5-8 oil pressure is wickedly low. How was the oil pressure on your drive to the track?? Damn what trunk full of bad luck.

J...that sucks!!! All that work! I had a similar experience with a 3rd gen Fbody several years ago...Drop a new LT1, huge cam, hogged out heads by Lloyd Elliot. Thing would move like no other, then took it have the paint and body work done. Get it back 6 weeks later, and it looked like ****! waves down the door, bugs inside the clear, color was different colors. I was so pissed, (and down right frusterated). I'd spent so much time, and I won't even think of the $$$ I spent. I ended up just dumping this car on ebay. Good news is I bought a 04 Z06 a few months later, and guess what, I forgot all about my previous loss. Funny enough, all that said, I sold the Z a few months back, and now I'm having serious sellers remorse, so I'm looking for another C5Z as we speak.

Moral of the story: a little time and a new project, and yesterday's misfortune will be history; a lesson learned but not forgotten.

I wish you the best of luck bro! Just think though, it definitely could've been worse...your clutch could've exploded again

Stay cool, drink an ice cold brewski or 6, tap a dent in ol' girls back...it'll be a little better tomorrow!

Verdict? lol. I don't even want to look at the bitch.

You know me with the whole time thing, everyting has gotta be done now, etc etc. With the future project,...I don't think I have much of a choice, ya know. The sooner the parts sell,....the quicker I am back in action. Otherwise, i'll be MIA for a little while....whoreing myself out to various cars and 90+ year old women with no teeth. Although daddy likes a smooooth ride,....I don't know if I like it that smooth.

lol. bastard ***** cars.

The stormtrooper....at some point will be back, one way or the other.

Keep up the good work dawg!

Yes,..i'm gifted.

Second motor operated ride, a KX80. Blew it up the first day doing wide open throttle top speed blasts. I don't know my age but, I was a little jit.

My 88 gt..all I did was brake tranny's. 3 "world class T-5's"

Then, the 7 motor cobra thing,...3 trans outta that car...2 rearends I think,...22 serpentine belts...flatbedded everytime for that...

Ceasers camaro( first time he brought it to my house, he told me to drive it and to get on it. I did. He was a little low on oil. Spun a bearing)

My cousins Z06. Trans...gone....first time I drove it. I powershifted second, got stuck in gear. Finally got it out after 5 judo kicks.

The same 427 C5R car...friggin driving it NORMAL....timing chain falls apart. Son of a bitch.

My old C5. Caught in a weird street flood, outside a party, with my X girl. After that. One month later. The pressure plate blows apart. Running the car.

My 2000 R1. To accidents, both my fault. The second was a 98mph wheelie screw up. Ended up sliding a hundred yards....then getting air lifted, on thanks giving morning.

This vette....lots of mods quick...by far the fastest thing I have owned. Then, clutch problems....then...after two weeks of late night work...put back together...then engine failure.

But...i'll still do it. I've got the same problems with females. lol. I still love em all more then anything. I ain't quiting guys...never. Just, trying to re-coupe all the bullshit in the past week. I want to start over.
