Default zo6 or c6

Well i have been contemplating a lot lately over getting a 03-04 cobra or a vette lately and ive pretty much made up my mind on the vette. Ive had this new job for awhile now and I am financialy stable now and can finally afford one of these beautiful machines. Now ive never driven the new c6 but have test drove a zo6 prior to 06 (ls6). Ive got a camaro ss and ive got 4 more payments on it, so this will make a very good down payment for a new vette when i trade it in. I do like both models very much, and i dont think i like one more than the other (zo6/c6). I wanna know is it better to get the bigger ls2 or is the zo6 just as good. Just looking to get the pros/cons between the 2 on peoples experieces.
Im kinda leaning towards the c-5 zo6 cause there are some real good deals for these now that the c6 zo6 is out.
I love the camaro i got now but the vette just seems like a sooo much better car to own performance wise.
Any feedback would be appreciated thanks guys.

I've never ridden in a C6 but I have an '03 MY Z06 and love it. Personally I do not care for the styling on the C6's. If you search over on corvetteforum or z06vette.com this question was asked recently and had many good opinions

I am not looking to get just the c5 but the c5-zo6. I know there is not much of a differance between the ss and a c5 and i wouldnt trade for that but, im more into the perfomance aspect of the idea and that is why i brought up the zo6. I would think that the zo6 would be way better than the ss and slightly better than the c6.

it depends what ya want to do. racejust look cool, brag to the neighbors.the c5 z is a little rough riding and will hold its own with a c6 but if you want a race car with tags buy a c6 z06. you will need to do nothing but learn how to drive it and NOTHING will beat ya for at least 2 years. i have an 01 coup and 07 z . i was ready for a rough riding car, well ya can drive 24 hrs accross country or 24 hrs at le mans. my opine

Even a used C6 will cost you about $12,000 more than an 02-03 C5 Z06. The C5Z is also the faster of the two out of the box. Is the C6 Z06 an option for you

i was gonna say the same. if the 15k difference doesn't matter, i would go with the c6.

I went from a 99 t/a to a 02 Z06. The c5 Z06 is so much better all around from the t/a. Although i will say that the f-bodies still have their niche! if you like the styling of the new c6's then get that one. I like the new styling of them but for 15k more, not worth it in my opinion. You can get a c5 Z06 and put on a TT system for less than 10k. I like the rougher riding c5 Z06 than the new c6 vette. If you get a c6 then make sure you get the Z51 package on it! i am happy that went with the c5 Z06 for sure. i'd rather have the c6 Z06 but can't afford a $75k car. If money is no option then get a 06 but you can't beat the bang fo the buck 02-04 c5 Z06. Et streets, shifter, and CAI with the c5 Z06 and you are in the 11's for sure!

No i cant afford a c6 zo6 otherwise i would buy one without a doubt. I think im leaning towards the c5-zo6 just because of the deals you can get on them for the performance that they offer. The c6 is a nice car but for about 15k less i can get a zo6 with good mileage with the same perfomance.

c5 z06 hands down. It looks better and is more of a specialty type car imo. Lot cheaper, same mod potential.

I traded my C5 Z06 for the C6 Z51. I couldn't go back to the C5 now. There's that much difference. The C6 is just a better car IMHO. For a pure race car, the C5 Z06 was nice, but I was after a bit more than just a race car. This C6 Z51 has 98% of the performance the Z06 had with many more refinements that made the extra $$ worth it to me.

This is a good thread. Im also in the same boat, looking at either a C5 Z06 or a C6 within the next 6 months. Keep the opinions coming

ooh and i dont think there is a 15k difference between the two cars. Most 02-04 Z06 with less than 15k miles (what im looking for) are $30,000-$36,000. I dont know about where all of you live, but around here you can walk out the door with a new C6 for low 40s (options depending).

Im kinda leaning towards the C6, if i can get a good price. It would be brand new, new technology, more refined, etc. BUT the C5 Z06 is cheaper and is slightly more unique. I see alot of middle-aged women driving regular C5 vettes around here (ugly, not washed, not waxed, not taken care of in general). I fear thats the future of the regular C6 . lol

Default C6 delima

Both are equally fine rides...as stated before, what are you 'end' goals and how much are you willing to spend when it's all said and done. I wanted the C6Z06, however, I wanted a vert more.

Solution: get a vert, a few mods later and I ended up with a nice ride. It is still a work in progress, thus my earlier comments regarding just what you want to end up with and what's important. Since you are in Indiana, I'd check out Lingenfelter just to see what's on the landscape.

Good luck with what ever you decide.

The C5Z is slightly faster than the C6 stock for stock. The C6 will have better mod potential though, it's bigger! The C5Z06 is more rough to live with everyday, and the C6 is more expensive.

I would go with a nice clean C5Z and pocket the other $10,000.

the c6 has a place for groceries in the back and the c5 z06 is more juvenile compared to a new c6 guess it depends on you age!!!

Groceries arent a very big priority to me condering im still a pretty young guy and this car wont be daily driven. I think im gonna shoot for the z06 since all i want is to go for performance. I know some people think that the new c-6 interior is better than the old c-5's but im comming from a camaro and the zo6 is a great uprgrade in interior quality. Interior design wasnt something that sold me on cars anyway. But thanks for the reviews guys. To me it just seems like the z06 is a better buy imo. Anymore feed back is great.

go with the c5Z. It has more of a race car feel to it and since it's not a dd that's all the better. Plus with the money you save over the c6 you can make your car at least as fast as a new Z if not faster.
