Seen the New Kid on the Block?
very good looking car with respectable acceleration numbers, but I think the limited driving range would be a deal breaker, at least for me. (not to mention the base price, $92k)

the price tag is alittle steep it seems. and the range isnt too bad. i'd imagine if you had one of these bad boys you wouldnt be driving it a TON more then 250 miles away, i'd think it was more of a fun car you take out for drives around town and stuff.
overall, i think its pretty cool. its only a start too, maybe in the next few years we'll see more manufacturers producing cool electric cars like this. there is definitely ALOT more potential left in a car like this.
the only weird thing is i'm sure this car is almost 100% quite. thats kinda gay, i like the whole loud *** exhaust rumble. besides, it would feel really funny to punch it and be thrown back in your seat, yet hear nothing.

Anyway, cool link! If they made that 10 years ago (comparing its performance to 1997 cars) they would have raped quite a few modern cars. Also the price would have went down.
Electric cars are just so damn badass.
I bet it weighs in the same as the heavy *** turbo'ed Porshes.
Just image if some of the kit car makers like GTM slapped an electic performance motor into their cars. Pop an F/R airbag system in there and you are ready to go with a $45k electric green/performance car.
Hell image if GTM pushed out kits for that 10 years ago, even with low performance numbers, it would still rock.
Those electric cars produce NICE torque numbers. Even the Prius gets something like 240 ft/lbs on its electric motor, albeit REALLY low end but still it is a start for a
car.Having it all electric also saves on having to buy two engines in the same car. Besides battery packs aren't that dangerous if you work them into the car right. I mean we drive with explosive gas sitting RIGHT behind us.

Problem then is that the supply/demand for electric energy would skyrocket...then the price of energy goes through the roof. May not end up being such a great savings in the long run? Who knows. May be a good time to get into utility stocks while the market is still so small. Just a thought.
Electric power plants are incredibly efficent compared to gas. Power costs would go up because you use eletric for the engine, BUT you would use very little compared to the cost of gas.
If everyone used one than all of that gas can go to gas electric powerplants which use the heat from the fuel instead of just wasting all of the heat out the exhaust pipes.
I mean there economy on electric power would practically be untouched in comparison.
i was thinking along the same lines also...except i was thinking VX220
