Default Popping noise...

Also posted in suspension. Though I would get more replies here. Anyhoo...

I have a '99 FRC and I lowered it about a month ago. I lowered it as far as it would go on the stock bolts. Shortly afterwards I was hearing a small popping noise from the rear which has now turned into a clunk anytime I take off or transfer any weight onto the rearend. I looked at the rear and it all looks good. The bolts are ar the same position I left them in wen I lowered it. What could this noise be? An help would be greatly appreciated.

Daniel.

Probably some bushing or something...you might also check your wheel wells to see if you're bottoming the car out.

I was thinking bushings, but it sounds amost like a hard thump now and didnt think a bushing would get that bad. The car isnt so low that it hits the wheel wells, but I will double check. Any other suggestions anyone?

I had what I think is the same exact thing your describing, my car was lowered, raised it back up to ship, then lowered again and heard a poping, changed shocks wich I needed anyway but still a clunk anytime I go over a small rock, I went under there to check every single nut and bolt and it was the swaybar bolt going to the end link (in the rear), tightened it up and the noise has been gone ever since... give that a check...

though anytime I take my car to the track or auto-x now I give everything a check before and after...

I would check to see that all of the suspension is torqued correctly.

Do you have plastic end links in your sway bars ? If so they are known to flex.

Also check your tranny mount to see if it's loose or broken.
