Default Banged the ol' rev limiter in the z06

Got an 03 z06.

Thing doesnt rev out like my cobra which i found out when i banged the rev limiter in second gear.

My question is that could i have hurt anything? Heard a loud backfire (probaly just the corsa exhaust as it pops every once in a while anyhow on decel).

Also, what is the shift point in a relatively stock z06?

Thanks.

I hit my limiter all the time, nothing to worry about.

if its running rough you may have bent a pushrod, if not it's probably fine, I think the stock limit is 6200 ??, you dont want to do it often, the limiter is a fuel cutoff not spark...

it's 6500-6600 for the Z06. I've done it plenty of times, no worries.

In a perfect run 100 to 200 RPM before redline.

The rev limiter stops mostly anything internally from getting damaged, but if you downshift into the wrong gear and over rev the **** out of it, then it can damage the engine.

Just like Blue wire said, 100-200rpm before redline. Redline 6500 rpms.

Let us know what times you get.

The rev limiter is to keep you from messing up anything.

I installed a shift lite so I would know my car would be cutting out soon.

My car is pretty modded but I didn't know the damn redline was set so much higher than stock. It scared the crap out of me the first time it revved to almost 7,000 rpm because I thought it was something with the trans.

rev limiter is something you want to stay away from but it's really not that big of a deal. However if you run a f/i it can start to hurt the motor when it leans out.

So you are saying that your Cobra was slow and never was able to hit the limter. You got in a fast car and hit it and think you blew it up. It's not a Ford.

Naaaa.

If there is one thing I have learned its that you dont argue with an idiot. They only bring you down to their level, and then beat you.

I'll pass.
