I have one in mine. Its got a heavy pedal but holds like hell. I'm scared to death of Spec in GM cars. I've got both a fidanza steel and aluminum flywheel. Running the steel now, haven't tried the alum. one yet.

have one in my car. using the stock flywheel with it. i had a horrible experience when i had it installed. mostly due to the shop i used. the rest was the clutch was not balanced properly and after they put a new unit in everything was good. every company/product has a bad item slip out. it just happens. once it finally got resolved and i have a good one, i have no complaints about the product. the shop, well that is another story that i am not going into.

If you are going to use the factory flywheel, you probably should have had it balanced together. I would go and have whatever you are working with balanced. Mine is not and I wish I did.

Oh, one thing I forgot to mention... the HD will chatter a lot before its broken in. Mine was pretty bad for the first 1k miles. Now its pretty smooth. My buddies was bad an he just couldn't wait. He took it out and went with an LS7. It doens't even come close. When I looked at his clutch, you could see where the pucks needed to finish wearing in. I think it was just a matter of time.

It is a good clutch. I recommend it to everyone wanting something to hold around 500 rwhp and does not want to spend the cash on a twin disk setup.

How expensive are clutch replacements in vettes? I know you have to drop the rearend to pull off the torque tube.

I intalled one a year back and the disk came apart (gradually) after about 6 or 7 thousand miles. The flywheel, pressure, plate and clutch all were balanced together by a local shop, and I torqued everything correctly. I just think it was defective. I went back to a Z06 clutch. My car puts out 380 ish at the wheels so maybe the RAM HD was overkill.

I bought a RAM twin disk that was out of balance and a RAM master that went bad in about 3000 miles. I would never put a RAM in anything I have again.

Got one in my 01 Z06! About 4K on the clutch with about 20-25 passes at the strip and its still going strong. Hardly any chatter now but as a few have already said, there is chatter during the first 1K miles. Installed with stock flywheel and replaced Slave.

white99frc...where those passes with the 01 Z06 with drag radials or street tires? Those are pretty good times. (I'm looking at 01 Z's myself, not as pricey as the 02's andlater)

Thanks! Passes were on 18' BFG drag radials. Both passes had 1.6 60 fts. Based on the trap speed on the passes I know the car is capable for 10s, just need more seat time at the strip with this clutch. It does take some time to get used to that heavy pedal as it screwed up my shift timing after I was so familiar with the lighter pedal of the LS6 clutch.

I definitely agree with you about the 01 Z's being cheaper. That is the main reason why I bought mine. I knew I was going to mod it down the line, so the 20 hp difference between the 01s and the 02-04s wasnt important to me.
