Default Broke the rear end yesterday!!!

Went to the track for some fun yesterday and left on a trailer. Pulled up to the line, took the rpm's to 2500,dropped the clutch, and snap!! I believe that the limited slip let go in the rearend from the way the car acts. I will be able to get into the shop today and start to tear it apart and see forsure. What are the options on different brands of limited slips out there other than the factory setup?

You didnt have a brace or anything upgraded i the read? What kind of tires were you on? I usually launch mine at 3000+ on street tires and so far so good. They actually hook also. Fill us in as soon as you find out the deal!

I run Goodyear Eagle F1 tires on the car. They seem to hook pretty well when their hot.

Hopefully you just snaped the output shaft. That's a cheap fix.

I've been through a clutch, two transmissions, and a differential. All part of the game.

Seems like my local C5 friends slip the clutches out real fast they don't dump it.

Something like this happend to me it was when I downshifted I just herd a snap under my shifter.I thought my clutch broke then after that I thought My slave and master was gone. Then rear diff and and finally tranny after checking all my parts and guessing all it was is that my torque tube internals broke.I wasted like 3 thousand replacing fork keys clucth's and tranny parts when I could of only wasted 600 and got it running but atleast I know my drivetrain is in a great condition.

I'm also guessing it's the (left side) output shaft. Good luck and let us know what it was.

Wow 2500 rpm.
That sucks but hopefully its just the half shaft since thats what usually it is.

It was pretty crappy, due too that being the my first run on the track that day.

The car is on Goodyear Eagle F-1 tires all the way around.

Werd!

Unless ofcourse your tire/diff can handle it. Some guys launch HARD...5500rpm and higher clutch.

Most likely young split the output shaft...or even worse...a possibly cracked diff.

Any fluid loss? Look at the caseing(obvioulsy)...then look in front of the diff, where it meets the trans housing/caseing. Sometimes they break there.

Best wishes man...

I thought it was crazy also. The car only made 310RWHP and broke the rear. There wasn't any fluid loss or any noticable cracks any where. I am planning on it being the shaft. So the plans are to replace whatever broke and install a set of 4.10's while it is apart.

Well, as for the actual limited slips, theres only 2 options.
1) DTE - clutches
2) Quaife - worm gear

You probably snapped the driver side output shaft. no biggie.
