Default Interesting Ron Fellowes Z06 question...

spotted this thread claiming this is #1 of 399 RFSE Z06's...then I noticed it was missing the hash marks. I'm not calling BS on this guy, I know that's what it really is....

My question is why the heck would they let the stealerships install the fender decals???

no, thats exactly correct. the dealer installs the decals, unless of course you tell him to leave them off. but that is a good question, my only thinking is maybe gm realizes some people don't want the decals and just desire the white color and interior differences from the st z

Yep, the cars come out of the factory without the hash marks on them, and it's up to the dealers to install them. Some owners will want the cars without the decals installed, which is why they do this.

I know someone who just picked one up here in Toronto, and he hasn't got the decals installed yet (he's still not sure if he's going to put them on or not)

I guess I can see that some owners wouldn't want the stripes (they do have a maple leaf on them). I just can't imagine trusting some dealership car prep monkey to put them on properly. I'm envisioning a huge bubble in the middle and some flunkie trying to pop it with a pocket knife....

The Ron Fellows cars come off the truck from the factory without the decals and they are applied at the dealership. It is no big deal just like any decal is. You put a couple of drops of liquid soap in a spray bottle of water shake it and the then you apply it to the area where the decalls go and line them up squeegee out the water and bubbles and let it dry overnite and you are good to go. It sure aint rocket science dudes. If you do it correctly there are no air bubbles to worry about. Here are some photos of the first of our 6 allocated to our dealership. From being checked in to delivery.

Yea, there were a few good deals to be had on em, but now the stealerships have caught on and 100K asking is now the norm for 'em.

I think the white paint job alone is worth the money alone... I always drooled over a white C5Z...

There is a dealer in the Metroplex that has 4 on the showroom. There are a dozen or more on E-bay. I am wandering if the 399 is not a scam to drive the price up. If every other major dealer gets just 1 then that makes for a couple thousand cars.

You are mistaken sir the production is 300 for the USA, 33 for Canada, and 66 for Europe. Out of the 1000's of Chevy dealers out there very few will get them. It is all based on the number of Corvettes sold by the dealer that determines whether they get any or not.

I have 6 ... but we have been in the top 3 in the nation in new Corvettes sales for the past 10 years ...

PS With the production number of 399 listed on the "Monroney Label" ... that is the window sticker for non car biz guys... there would be serious legal ramifications if GM exceeded the production number..false advertising ect. ect..

not installing decals like this has been going on for along time. i know they did the same thing with the 88 turbo ta. it had a big decal package that went on the doors because it was also the indi 500 car that year. i had a friend who bought one and the decals were not installed. he got them when he bought the car from the owner.

Frank Para had several Zs and offered the others at MSRP. As a matter of fact I offered to split the difference of invoice and MSRP and he told me if I would buy now hw would take the offer to the higher up and try.

screw paying $100K for a white paint job. If you wanted a white Z06 that badly, just buy another color and drop $5K on a top-quality white paint job. These cars are easy to paint, several Corvette shops have already done them and the Z06 fender/nose conversions etc...

The collectibility of the Ron Fellows edition doesn't concern me, not enough to pay over MSRP for one. Watch GM start selling them in white next year with the supercharger and kick these buyers in the nuts
