short answer is no, top speed of stock C5 coupe is 178, with the Z06 beeing 175.

Its nearly impossible to hit 200 even in a M6 coupe due to gearing, 5th gear wont get you to 200 and sixth gear will not handle the amount of power it would take to get to 200.

So, figure youd have to re-gear higher and have about 500 RWHP to get a M6 to 200, not sure howd you do it in an auto.

On a dyno it's possible...

But actually moving on the road..NO WAY..the C5 is drag limited to 171-176 mph depending on wich publication you read..

A stock C5 has 300 rwhp and is .29 coefficient drag..To hit 200 mph it would need 440 rwhp... ( basically a nice roots style blower would get the job done)

i have read of may regular c5's getting in the low to mid 18x's. The coupe is more aerodynamic than the FRC or ZO6.

fastest any mag got a c5z06 to was 167-171 mph GPS verified..Your spedometer means very little at those speeds. Fastest ever for a C5 was 176...Z06 171...

I think I saw a Lingenfelter Twin Turbo youtube video that was going like 226mph, but that's far from stock. You can hit 200mph on a stock C5. Think hard on how... Go downhill. As long as 200mph does not surpass the redline in your final gear, you can do it.

Default No way

A stock C5 will not come close to 200mph, I don't care what the computer calculators say. It would take more then 440 hp to get to 200. My Open Road car has 598rwhp and will do 206-208 maxed out. it also has a lot of aerodynamics done to it see sig.

I theory an A4 with the 2.73 or 3.15 gear ratio will do 200 MPH. However it will take a lot more power to get it there compareed to a M6. Plus the POS 4L60E would need to be built to handle the extra power needed to reach 200 MPH. There is no cheap way to get an A4 to hit 200 MPH.

Can't verify the accuracy of my speedo, but I had it buried in 5th gear just before I hit my rev limiter which is set at 6800 rpms.

Do you think a more accurate speed could be shown using the LIVE DATA section of the DIABLO hand tuner ?? In LIVE DATA it shows a lot of ****. Throttle position angle, amount of air at the MAF, RPM's, and MPH plus a lot of other things. I would think it would be pretty accurate since it is hooked up to the OBD II port.

BTW when I passed the bikes and later slowed down, they rode up next to me, flipped their visors and gave me a big thumbs up, like holy **** a car out ran us. The bikes were 1000 cc or bigger. The 600's I have run won't go past 165 or so. These guys required me to go 175 just to catch up and when I did catch up I stayed on it. I didn't let off until the needle was right at the 200 on my speedo and the bikes were nowhere in sight. I used about 2 1/2 miles to catch and pass these guys then coasted for a couple more miles. I can't wait to do it again. I think I'll have my passenger hold the DIABLO tuner and keep an eye on the MPH. SORRY FOR HIJACKING THE THREAD..... just wanted to say I think it can be done.

Jeffy your aerodynamics addons put so much downforce on your car that with all that power you should be able to go a lot faster IMO.

I had my 1999 A4 3.15 C5 up to 170ish ( i took my eyes off the speedo to watch the road). **** moves past you pretty fast to be looking down going look I am at 172.6MPH screw that. Once you start hitting 170 area the rear gets light and imperfections in the road made me waddle enough to back off of it. I did however hit 200+ on a dyno. The owner of the dyno said his Bullet mustang hit 160ish and we wanted to see what my vette would do. This was stock no mods. I have never hit over 180 in a vette, not with my H/C C5, my Procharged C5 or my Maggied C6. My 99 C5 with the A4 was in 4th gear (Overdrive) when I was at that speed I was creeping up and up a digit at a time but it was going to run out soon enough I could tell. When I drove my 2000 C5 down the runway at an airport I operate out of at the halfway point 2400-2500 ft. I was at 150 or so in 4th gear and she had alot let in her. Took the rest of the runway to stop lol. It had a procharger on it though at 500 RWHP. Breaking it into 200MPH zone stock dunno, but even if you had the car in KPH mode the digits are under the MPH numbers so even still you would not hit 200MPH. Its been a while since I owned my C5's but I am pretty sure about that on the guage.

IF A C6Z06 WITH A WEIGHT OF 3150 POUNDS AND A COEFFICIENT DRAG OF .34 CAN HIT 198 MPH WITH ONLY 440-460 RWHP SAE..................

THEN A .29 DRAG COEFICIENT C5 CAN HIT 200 MPH WITH ONLY 440 RWHP..

TO THE GUY WITH THE ROAD CAR WHO SAYS HE ONLY MAXES OUT AT 208 MPH...200 AND 208 MPH IS A HELL OF A DIFFERANCE....

C5's with their .29 drag are amazing for top speed runs..HOW MANY CARS CAN HIT 175 MPH WITH ONLY 300 RWHP SAE????????????????????????????

MY RT10 99 VIPER HAS A DRAG RATING OF .45 AND HAS 410 RWHP ON AVERAGE..YET THE CAR MAXES OUT AT 177 MPH ( ONLY 1-2 MPH HIGHER THAN THE 300 RWHP C5 VETTE...

THATS HOW GOOD THE .29 ON THE C5 IS....MAN I MISS THOSE ARODYNAMICS

I have been to 173 and hit the rev limiter with my tach indicating 6300. The engine was pulling hard enough to go several hundred rpm more but there is no way it would get to 200 stock, or with the stock gearing for that matter. Speed was verified by viewing the max speed data on my GPS.

Seen well over 180 on multiple occasions when I was making 450rwhp....with room left in my 3.42 FRC Z51.

I raced black bullet a few times at speeds like that...his speedo indicated the same thing i his C6 Z51 as my car did.
