Default oil temp. ?

Hey, was out cruising last night and noticed my oil temp. was up to 223 degrees at times in turnpike traffic. I did not see it go below 205 for most of the night. outside temp. was around 80 degrees and relatively humid. I've only owned the car for a month now, and this is the hottest I have seen the oil temp. get. anything to be worried about or is this normal operating temperature? thanks!

Totally normal. When it gets over 265-275 I would start wondering why its so hot if you are driving normally. My car has been completely re done with aftermarket stuff. H/C/I/ and every bolton available. Making 490 rwhp and 445 rwtq. I have a built in oil cooler and drive the car pretty hard and the oil doesn't ever get above 225. When I drive normal it sees about 199-203 degree unless the air temps are in the 90's and I might see 205-210.

To sum up, I wouldn't worry one bit.

My car runs around 240 and last week at summit point, i saw temps as high as 290 295, I think its almost time for a bigger rad and external oil cooler.

G2 Super cool radiator would fix both problems at once.

Mine was doing the same thing all weekend... Usually never goes over 205, but in this hot and humid weather + traffic, I was as high as 230.

glad to know she's ok =) lol
heat scares me haha, in my Camaro I had a 160* stat and manual fan control switch, so she rarely got up past 180.

That is about where mine runs. It got to 267 at VIR last Thurs, but it was 105 deg and it was a 30 min session. Water temp never got above 240.

Sounds like you could use a bigger radiator with a built in oil cooler. The 240 water temp is awfully high. Why weren't the fans keeping her cooler then that ?? No matter how hard I push my car I can't break 200 on the water temps and the oil cooler keeps me in check too. Racing for over 30 miles on the eways speeds 150 and up oil saw 230 degrees and coolant was 171, but in stop and go driving the coolant will go to 195 at the most.

Get the G2 supercool radiator from LG Motorsports and your temps will drop quite a bit.
