Default Help, 04 Z06 engine stutters upon accel.

Im not really sure whats causing it, but my car stutters when i give it gas in the lower rpms while cruising. Im replacing the clutch this winter, but i don't think a worn out clutch would cause it to stutter, then again i don't know. My Z has seen a few 125 shots put through her while at the track. anybody have any ideas?

I can think of a handful of things... have you changed or done anything recent???

Possible problems

Dirty/bad MAF
Old O2's but not dead
IF you have cats, maybe clogged?

I don't have any cats, ive never looked at the MAF. Am I just looking for dirt or build up inside it? You think the 02's life could be shortend by having no cats? car has 19k on the clock.

i would check your plugs 1st

If you are using stock platinum plugs the Nitrous will ruin them pretty quick.

use copper or iridium plugs only when using N20

I ran EFI live on it today and I came up with a MAF code, which im not to worried about because the intake has thrown that code before. But what i did find was a engine misfire code. What would cause that? we reset the codes and the car is running fine again. With the misfire code i was running pig rich AFR at a low ten, now it only dips down to a mid 11. I check the plugs and wires and they seem fine. Im just curious to what would cause a "misfire". Any ideas?

A faulty MAF could cause the issues you describe. I WOULD worry about it if I were you.

Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong.

The small wires in the MAF are susposed to be silver. If they get build-up on them that will cause your car to stumble. Clearing the code will only work for a short period of time.

I read on CF that somebody had the same problem and they cleaned the MAF with carb cleaner and the car ran 1000 times better.

Please dont try this until somebody confirms because I'm not 100% sure. I will try to find you the link from CF.

Edit: If you do attempt to clean the wires BE VERY GENTLE.

There must have been a reason for the car to misfire. I don't think its a valve spring because you would here it when idling, just clearing the code made the car run fine again and with a bad valve spring it wouldn't have mattered with the codes cleared. Same goes with the injectors. Ill check the maf wires, but 04 Z's have been known to have sensitive MAF's and they have thrown codes for an intake install. Thanks for the help guys.
