magnaflow vs z06 ti
I've narrowed my exhaust choices down to either magnaflow or z06 ti with xpipe. I want an exhaust that can be heard but isnt too loud and no rasp. Which one would sound deeper or louder? Will cutting off the cats make it real loud or just increase the volume a little?

The Ti will sound quieter.
Cutting or gutting the cats will only make it sound more raw..... whatever it is.. buzzbomb or not.
I like the exotic material, and it's OEM so I kept my titanium set-up.

My vote would be to keep (or go with) the titanium set up. It's light, and if it's not loud enough, you could always do the "A&A" mod.
Like ~Joshua said, keep the cats (or upgrade them). They really help smooth out the tone and avoid "raspyness."

I've got the magnaflow catback with the Tru-x and its definately louder and deeper than the stock Ti. It does have a slight drone in 6th gear and 1300-1600 rpm but its not bad at all. My personal preference still goes towards the stock Ti though.... its a totally different sound not to mention performance gains are marginal over the Ti.

TI's
I have the TI'S with LG Logtubes\no cats...on my Zo6, quiet as can be till about 3000 rpm then it is loud as he*l. They are great for the x-way..you can still talk to someone. I ran open headers back to back with my Ti's on the same day and had no gains in ET or Mph.

I sold my B&B bullets and put on stock TI mufflers. It quited it down a touch but not much, @ WOT I can't tell a difference. I think the greatest savings was the weight, those B&B's are heavy as hell.

I went with the magnaflows over my Ti's and I love it. Theres a few guys where I live that have LTs, x pipes and no cats with their stock Ti's and I dont like the sound at all. Kinda raspy. Though for 1500 bucks, I have to admit the gain isnt there for the money. If you want good sound go for it. If you want performance, the gains out of the exhaust is prolly offset by the weight difference.

I will probably just get the magnaflow axleback and get the muffler shop to do the xpipe part. Does any know where there is a sound clip of a stock ti setup with xpipe. How do you think it would compare to the magnaflow then?
*edit*
Here is the sound of the magnaflow setup: http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...erican&id=272#

I have a stock Z06 exhaust from an 03 with less than 20k miles for sale if interested..... It is cut right before the muffler but will make them much easier to install and you can just weld them back once they are back on the car.... I will let them go cheap

Yeah, I don't want any drone. What exhaust is still loud enough to hear with no rasp and no drone. I know a lot of people like stingers, how loud are they?

stingers
Dude, Stingers are loud. My advise is to listen to other cars and when you hear music to your ears, ask what they are running. My (what some call raspy) is music to my ears..the motor sounds flat nasty with my foot to the floor. Quiet when just crusing down the road. GOOD LUCK.
