the mods are h/c ,cam, intake, headers, catback, cai and tune. The main reason I don't go out and grab some slicks or dr's is that the one weak point of the C6s is the rear. I've seen them shatter on hard hooks. Very expensive replacement and aftermarket is even moreso and still have seen them break as well. I'm done modding for now, but who knows about next year.....

Idles like stock, maybe a little stronger. I have the GM L92 heads, GM L76 intake, a custom cam from my tuner(Carolina Auto Masters) and the grinds are his personal recipies, so I don't want to give that out. I also have LG longtube header, slp loudmouth 2 exhaust and a tune by C.A.M.(Jeff Creech). The car is a 2006 A6 and drives great, I never have to worry about overheating, the thing will pull over 1 g. to either side, and I get 29MPG on the Hwy, about 21 city, even after the mods. Everyone underestamates the GM heads, and mine are completely unported and gives me great, full rpm range power. They are a bargin as well, as I got mine, with the intake, for just under $1500.00 total. The intake has went up a little since then, but still a great deal.

wrap your head around this, bone stock before the break-in period was over, when I had to take it easy on the car, it showed that I got 31MPG on a 150-160mile road trip.LOL. The only thing I've found that really kills the mpg around the city is using paddle shifters. It drops to about 15mpg if I use paddles and not let it go full auto in the city.

i think im going with the M6 this time around i had an A4 04 GTO(hated that car) and now i have an A4 C5... i just want to change to the manual so hopefully i get even better MPG... i thought you would get worse mpg with the head cam set-up.. im surprised with the mpg you get.... i thought about modding my C5 until i can get an 08 C6 cuz i really want the LS3 but with 450 to the wheels with your mods and the money i would save buying an 06 its not a bad deal and they sound alsome!

Most of the rear breakage I've seen comes from a strong hook at the line on manual tranny C6s, but I have seen autos break as well, usually the shafts instead of the diff. On slicks, I've seen diffs shatter like glass, even with the DTE braces. If you're gonna run slicks or drs, you may want to baby it out of the hole until you get a really good feel for it and I still wouldn't do a high rpm launch. Alot of guys are doing a C5 rear conversion if they plan on doing alot of drag racing.

The C5 and C6 rears are not the same , *exactly*...the C5 Z rears hold up to higher hp/tq launches than the stock C6 rear does, especially the 2005 C6 rear. Alot of folks are doing the swap or "conversion" to the C5 rear or at least some of the parts, such as the shafts.
