Default 2007 Z06 - need suggestions

A close friend of mine purchased a 2007 Z06 new a little over a year ago. He loves that car and so far its bone stock. I guess if I owned a 5 second pro-mod I would leave my vette stock but I'll probably never know... anyway, its getting about christmas time and he really helped me out a lot with the purchase of my first home, I want to get him something special for christmas, I was intending on getting him some sort of exhaust however I'm limited to spending about $500 - $600 max as I am finding out owning a home is kinda expensive. I see you guys do a lot of work on your vettes, does anyone have any suggestions as to what I could get him for that car preformance wise under $600.... air box? MAF maybe??? I have considered maybe a PCM tune but I wouldnt know how to put that under the tree, I also considered NOS but hes a blower guy who doesnt believe in spray. Any suggestions would be greatly apreciated.

Thanks

Without know more about what has been done, it is hard to suggest things. One idea would be gift cards. I know alot of sponsors to the right here have them

I was thinking of a K&N but i hear the stock box flows well, I just thought some one would have a suggestion of something they did which they really liked...

Halltech has a new airbox called the Killer Bee for the C6Z. Probably in the price range you're looking at.

You can also go with maybe a Lloyd's floormat and cargo mat combo. The quality is very nice on those and look sweet with the Z06 logos. Also, a good item for Z06 owners is the Partition piece that seals off the back of the car and cuts down ALOT on road noise. Items above would be under 600 and would give him a good looking car while still keeping it stock performance wise.

The perfect gift for the money! Electronic cut outs. It would sound super bad *** and you could go back to stock with a flick of a switch.....QTP or DMH are the companies! I have QTP on my cars and the break alot (sorry QTP). Just installed the DMH's on a V it sounds awesome...

The partition will work on a C5 Z06 but will not work on a C6 Z06.

The electric cutouts are a great idea or a Vara Ram intake. If you go with a electric cutouts buy the DMH cutouts they have a 4 year warranty compared to a 1 year warranty for QTP..I have had DMH on for over 2 and half years and had no problems with them...

My buddy just had a stock 07 Z06 come into his shop. They put a Callaway CAI on it and a DiabloSport Predator Tune in it It made 492 RWHP. I would say thats bang for the buck.

Z06's pretty much have cut outs. Two of the rear pipes have butterflys in them that open up at a certain rpm.

They are not quite what you could call cutouts...there is a big difference...they are solenoid opperated flaps in the mufflers aid exhaust flow above 3600 rpm but are not as efficient as a pair of cutouts..and do not sound like a cut out does...

I know a guy who pulled the fuse or jumpered that system so it was open all the time. It sounded pretty damn good.

David Hill who used to be the chief engineer (retired now) on the Corvette showed me the fuse to pull at the 2005 C5/C6 Birthday Bash in Bowling Green in May of 05 on a prototype preproduction car. Granted it sounds good at wide open throttle but if you are just driving down the road at a steady speed the drone or resonence is terrible..most guys install a switch so they can turn it on or off depending on the kind of driving they are doing..
