Default Best shifter

I just recently purchased a bone stock 99 c5 vert and am slowly going to modify it until the TA is gone. My gf wants to buy me a shifter for christmas and i was just wantind some input from anybody who has felt diff shifters in the c5's. I had a hurst in my camaro and ive got a b&m ripper in my TA and liked them both. Any input on this would be appreciated. Thanks

To tell you the truth the stock shifter is the best I think. I have tried some different ones and they just seem to stiff and they wine alot.

go with a bpp shifter. Put in the lightest spriing, maybe a little stiff but after shifting it a bit it is just as soft as the stocker. Shorter throws than my buddies pro 5.0 and lous short stick in his Trans am. I like it cause you can adjust it to where you like it the most. you can find them on the corvette forum. Breathless Performance Plus, BPP. If you mention you are from the corvetteforum you get 10% off.

I have yet to miss a gear with the Hurst. I use to miss shifts all the time with the stock shifter. Part of that might have to do with going from the cobra to the z06 every other day. Now that I have the hurst, i can get it into the next gear without even thinking before i shift.

It is a bit stiff, and I have the softest spring in there, but it makes me feel like i really have command of the transmission.

Thats what I have, not the shortest throw but it is a lot smoother and easier to shift than the stock. I had a B&M ripper before that and it was way notchy. But I guess it all comes down to what you like.

Ever driven a mustang with a PRO 5.0 shifter? Short, and notchy.

I use the HURST,...and in my personal opinion, for my style and use of the car,...it's the best thing on the planet. Fighter jet ****.

My cousins got the KIRBAN... which seems like another good product....but, I havent had the chance to bang gears in it....so,..I can't comment on the performance of it.

The hurst however...is the bomb diggity.

It's especially nice if your a big guy. Don't have to reach as far forward to shift.

Plus the 2nd to 3rd shift you can use just your thumb on. Push it up and goes right into 3rd. Just like butter.

I have seen lots of guys go to the C6 Z06 shifter. Heard some decent things about it, but why spend the same amount of money for another stock shifter when you can get a shifter that is made for going thru the gears fast and not missing a gear???

Having had this shifter for a year I only missed a gear twice. Once at the track and once street driving, those were my errors. First manual car ever, lol.

I am removing my Hurst in favor of the C6Z shifter. Too stiff/notchy for my liking. We'll see if it changes my 10.8 1/4 mile time, lol.

I took my B&M shifter out and put the stock one back in this past weekend. I am going to try the C6 Z06 shifter and maybe have it cut down some.

I installed an 08 Z06 shifter in my 99 FRC a couple of months ago. I really like it a lot. Its a little shorter throw than the C5 shifter and the handle is slightly curved back towards the driver. Shifts smoother than the C5 shifter also. I think it was $175.00 well spent. Its really comfortable to shift and is'nt stiff and notchy like aftermarket shifters, and it looks good too.
