The bottom is the fastest way. You will have a tougher time getting the inputshaft lined up from the top.

Pros from the top:
- no removal of Kframe
- no lift needed

Cons
- tough alignment
- 3 man job
-ABS gets in the way

out the bottom Pros-
-Fast
- easy stabbing the input shaft
- no hood removal

Cons-
-lift needed
-dolly for Kframe ( we have a special dolly for this sole purpose)

Hope that helps!

Pulled mine out the top(with lift)and it was easy.
Did it all by my self too
Will do it again that way if needed.

out the top seems OK, but would require removing the radiator, hoods, and maybe the nose and steering rack (maybe). I always drop everything out of the bottom.
