Default Boost

I've got an 01 C6, A4 3.15 axle, 46k miles, completely stock, runs 13.1. LG Motorsports is a few blocks from my house and I'm looking at either of these kits (Vortech vs Magnuson):

http://www.lgmotorsports.com/catalog...oducts_id=1512

http://www.lgmotorsports.com/catalog...oducts_id=1513

Anyone have any experience with either kit?

I daily drive my car, and my goal is reliable low 11's without touching a lot of parts. What other supporting pieces will I need to buy (transmission, driveshaft, differential)?

I'm really not looking at going the cam route--although I might do a stall.

Do these kits work well with headers?

Thanks,
BigLittles

i guarantee you that you dont have an 01 C6 lol just bustin your chops man

id go with vortech/procharger/ecs/a&a and the like. i dont like the maggy blowers, never been a fan of roots style. kits will work fine with headers, but i think it bleeds a little boost off... like a half pound to pound or so, so keep that in mind when choosing a pulley.

you might want to look into upgrading the tranny, i dont know anything about autos so i cant speak for them.

LG Motorsports is the place to go. Give Bobby or Anthony a call to get set up. Look at my sig and see what my n/a LS1 did.

Thanks red. Yea meant to say C5 Reason I was looking at the Mag over the Vortech was the intercooler. I didn't see them offering one for the Vortech, although I've seen them on the Camaro's.

What parts of the tranny need upgrading? Clutch packs, input/output shafts (or whatever they call them on the RWD trannies, all of my modding experience is with FWD ).

BTW, headers with a supercharger shows less boost because boost is a measurement of restriction--the less backpressure you have on a supercharged setup, the less boost you will have. It's not a bad thing because your engine is breathing more efficiently and not boost stacking. When I did headers / exhaust on my GTP, I dropped 2 psi of boost on the same sized pulley but gained .4 in the 1/8 .

How much HP do you guys think a stock C5 tranny + differential can handle reliably as a daily driver? Could I bolt on the Magnuson + tune, gain 130rwhp, and call it a day w/o upgrading any other hardparts?

Im gonna say that if your not really run it hard all the time or take it to the track alot your stock rear end should be fine...for a while at least lol.

Anybody know how much hp these rear ends can handle?

A low 11 sec car is going to be very hard to do without 'touching' a lot of parts. To do low 11s, you are looking at a good 550 rwhp. I have seen a couple of stock motors hit that with a SC, but they are pushing the motor to the limits. That is not good if you want a daily driver. With that power level, the 4L60E will take a dump within the first couple of months. I will bet my entire 401K on that

You could get about 130 extra rwhp out of a maggie and a good tune, but that will not get you into the low 11s. Most likely the low 12s to upper 11s. Even at 450ish rwhp, the stock tranny will be under a lot of stress and strain and will not last long.

A C5 with some good tires and a good driver or poperly set up auto tranny (in the OP's case) will run low 11's very easily with only 450+ rwhp.
