I find that impressive for a stock tranny that has been through what yours has I'm glad to see you aren't complaining about it, because it really sounds like it held up significantly better than a stock tranny should be expected to. 1-2-3 burnouts are killers, all those track passes etc.

The A6s in our Corvettes are the 6L80E, some even feel that it's listed as an '80' because it's a 'heavy duty' unit much like the 4L80E is/was.
Either way I don't believe that the 6L80 is based off of the 4L60, supposedly this one is a whole new 'clean sheet' ground up design.
There are a few variations on the 6L80/6L90 trans, some are used in heavier duty truck applications as well.

Yep, that's the whole reason I went with an '05 4L60E.....I knew if I roasted the A6 I was screwed with no possibility for upgrades.....sure enough, 3k miles after my blower install I lost 3rd gear. I called Rodney and had a Stage V put in my car about a week later. That's the second tranny Rodney has built me- both have been on 550rwhp or more Vettes and have proven to be bullet proof.

I have a VE/G8 with the 6l80e that has done about 50 passes and now makes very good HP
My concern is if I fry the box what then do I do as I doubt we can retrofit a 4l60 box.
Will a 6l90e bolt straight up or is it possible to retrofit a built 4l60 /65
cheers

I just talked to TCI today ( 6/3/08 ) and they said they will have a converter AND a built 6L80E on the market in 2-3 months! Im going with a C6 A6! With a converter and a tire, its gonna be unbeatable and I wont ever have to worry about the clutch pedal sticking to the floor.
