Question Short-throw shifters

Does anyone recommend a certain one? Are the F-body shifters interchangable?

Thanks,

Grant

I had a B&M short throw and hated it. I put the stock shifter back in and bought a new "2.25 billet shift ball for it. The weight added to the top helped with the throw of the shifts.

Am I correct in assuming you can't use F-body T56 shifters?

yes you can't. I believe so at least. My Z28's shifter was much different then my C5's. I went with a B&M Ripper w/ a C6 Shift **** and although it can be kinda tough and clunky i LOVE the feel of it to be honest. I just added some lithium Grease to the assembly and lower ball and it shifts MUCH smoother

I'm very happy with my Hurst shifter. The package gives you plenty of spring choices to adjust to your liking and it gives you a nice ratcheting feel.

I have the C6 Z06 shifter. Its useless. I will be purchasing a C6 Hurst shifter so that I can still use my current shift ****.

Just curious, what don't you like about the C6z shifter? I like mine so much more than the stock one.

I say the BPP shifter is the best one out there!!!
Adjustable springs and you can move the shifter anywhere you want it pretty much. My buddy put one in his vette after having a pro 5.0 and a lou's short stick in his WS6 and said the bpp is a shorter throw. I have the lightest springs in the shifter and after a month or so the shifter is just as light as the stocker. You can shift into third by just pushing the ball with your thumb!

Same here. The C6 Z06 shifter feels like rubber maid. Very sloppy. I put my b&m ripper back in. Ahhhhhhh-100 times better. My C6 Z06 shifter is for sale on the other forum.

Do you have the standard lever, or the longer one? That's my only decision.

I have the standard shaft and it's fine - for me. The threads for the **** are very long and I think I could raise it 1/2 inch if I wanted to. I bet if you get the standard shaft and it's too stiff for you George would swap it out no problem. He's a great guy!

The Callaway shifter is the best I've used.... and I've tried them all.

I've driven no less than HUNDREDS of C5's with all types of shifters....

When I drove Callaway's new '08 supercharged 'Vette (with him riding shotgun!!!) The Callaway shifter has a slighty "ratchety" feel/click but without the excessive spring tension found on pretty much all the others.

I wish I'd have driven Callaway's Corvette sooner... before I bought my Kirban! He really had the best one.
