Will a F-body stall converter work in a C5 Vette?

Whats the difference between the LT1 Converter and the LS1 Converter i thought both had the 4L60E tranny?

The internal splines and overall length is different on the LT1 converters

Sorry guys, I was thinking LS F-body's (98-02) not LT1's.

K....now IM confused. I thought that the LS1 Fbody converter WOULD work with an LS1 C5....? Correct?

No, a LS1 fbody converter will NOT work with a LS1 vette. Both LS1 fbodies and LS1 vettes do have a 4L60E transmission, but the shaft lengths and splines are different. One can use the LT1 fbody converters though as they have the same number of splines and shaft lengths.

Could be worse. The fbody converters are much cheaper than the vette ones: $350ish verses $750ish. I have seen and heard about lots of fbody guys buy the vette converter( because vette part are better than the fbody parts ) only to find out they wasted $750.

ok, so let me get this straight
i can buy a lt1 fbody converter and it will fit and perform just like a c5 converter?

I am not 100% sure, but I think the LT1 and LS1/Vette converters have different overall outer diameters even though they have the same splines and shaft lengths. I think the LT1 one is slightly bigger so I am not sure the C5 bellhousing will work or not.

That's where I got my info from, on that part of the board.

A LT1 Fbody converter will work in LS1 CORVETTE 4L60E. A LS1 FBODY converter will NOT work in a LS1 CORVETTE.
