Default Victor Jr on a C5. Does HOOD clear?

friend here needs a FAST intake,...and well,..been thinking about getting a carb style manifold. At the moment, I can't really swing a new hood,...soo, my question is,...

Does the VICTOR JUNIOR CARB manifold with an elbow, fit underneath a stock corvette C5 hood?

Yeah, I figured aftemarket hoods would clear but I can't afford that right now. I have a friend that needs a FAST setup, and i'd rather have the junior and elbow but,... oh well.

If you have the vic jr. intake and fuel rails, I would be very interested in taking them off your hands if you can not use them. Have cash in hand

Instead of the elbow, what about just putting a throttle body on top the intake. I don't know if that will clear a vette hood or not. Maybe somebody here can answer that.

Two problems with that idea:

1) The TB will not directly bolt to the intake. A custom adapter would have to be machined..... $$$$$$$$.

2) The TB if it was bolted to the intake would be pointing straight up and would cause even more problems. Not enough room for the TB, MAF, and filter between the top of the intake and bottom of the hood.

Here's the short elbow, as you can clearly see it hits the hood, circled and that's clay for fitting. Also, as you can see the elbow hits the intake, yes in contact, so rumors about machining of the intake to lower the elbow will do no good, as it will just make the elbow gouge into the intake even worse. Aaron at the link above makes a quality product with beautiful welds and we are going to have him make me a less restrictive quality unit, and am going with a add on Z 28 style scoop to existing hood. Jegs or Summit has a nice bolt on scoop. Maybe Aaron could do a nice custom below the hood elbow for you that isn't so restrictive? Stick with the pros that do it for a living.

I have pics farther along but not ready to post.

GMPP intake has the exact same issues, sorry. Check out Edelbrock they have a short wide cast elbow but don't know if it will work.

Will the intake fit without the spacer or does it still hit?

No, all test fitment for the hood clearance was done without the spacer. After I found it wouldn't work I chose to use a 1 1/4 spacer for added plenum volume (tuning) and blow off disc for the spray. Actually the elbow hits the intake with no spacer, not very well made as it has a twist in it.

so i'm looking into buying a different intake for my C5 and i always figured it'd be a FAST 90/TB 90mm combo but now you guys have got me wondering, which is better for the LS1 as far as a stock bottom end car w/ cam, wet 150hp spray? the Victor Jr. w/ elbow or the FAST stuff?

The Vic Jr will be better for a 150hp shot since it will better distribute the N2O/fuel equally to all the cylinders. With the LSx/FAST style intakes, the first two cylinders almost always get more than the 7th and 8th cylinders making tuning much harder.

i agree about the more equal distributing, i better check this idea out more, any good places to find out more info about this combo? i'll start searching on here but where is a good place to get this intake and elbow i'll need?
Oh, and will this bolt right onto the stock heads with the rubber gaskets for the intake ports? Thanks!
